♛ CHARACTER INFORMATION

Name: Natalie 'Nat' Quinn

Series: OC

Ability: Telekinesis: she can move things with her mind, including but not limited to: people, your dog, and your crazy aunt Marge.

Super Strength: this is obvious

Agility (not technically a power): she can keep her balance and climb trees really quickly.

Position: third year, seventeen years old

Appearance: Long red-orange hair, green-brown eyes. Dresses tomboyishly, skinny jeans, t-shirts and hoodies. Don't be surprised if you see a case on her back - she's prone to taking her bass with her places.

Canon Resource Link: My mind.

History: Born in Lacour, in the city of Armlock, Natalie lived a pretty normal life. From day one (to be precise, March 21st), she’d always been a bit of a tomboy, always climbing trees and shunning away from the girly girls. This was probably due to her older brother, Evan.

She grew up quickly, and when she was five her mother sent her to kindergarten, and unlike some of the other girls, she rushed right in, loving the idea of it. Sadly, she was never one for nap time, preferring to poke her classmates while they were sleeping to wake them up, and then pretend to sleep.

Kindergarten went by fast, as did first, second, third and fourth grade. She gained a love of music, artistic talent, and began playing the bass. Her grades were subpar, not straight A’s, but she passed with little difficulty.

In fifth grade though, she got her first real crush in the form of her friend, Nate. He was… different, but in a way, just like her. He loved music, and played drums. Her singing voice wasn’t bad, so they got a group together and started a small band. At everyone in the bands urging, she asked her parents for singing lessons. After some pleading, they agreed.

And so she took singing lessons, and the natural talent she never knew she had flourished. The band was together for a few years. She eventually got over her crush, due to a rather rude awakening involving walking in on him kissing one of their seventh grade class mates. To this day, the two are still friends. The band eventually broke up in eighth grade, due to the guitar player leaving and Natalie not being able to play bass and sing at the same time (She has since remedied this problem).

Her main powers manifested around age thirteen, and weirdly enough, she discovered them while practicing with the band. Basically, she’d been working on her bass, trying to perfect singing and playing. She had reached for the mic stand and bam. It was floating. Startled, she grabbed it quickly, and it snapped in half from her grip.

That was just weird. Creeped out, she cut out of practice and ran home to tell her parents. Soon enough, they made a doctor’s appointment and the doctor easily told the family that thirteen year old Natalie had developed powers, and he promptly recommended a few tutors to help her control said powers. Unfortunately, all the tutors were in Cross, particularly in the city of Mars. A bit wary of these new powers, her parents grew away from her and began to neglect her, finally sending her off a few weeks later. Upset and somewhat angered, she emancipated herself from her parents. After saying goodbye to the band, she gathered her necessities and went off.

When she reached Mars, she found out that her tutors name was Selwyn. He was a nice man, and tried his best to help her control and master her power. She was thirteen and a half at the time.

A few days after she turned fourteen, another girl came to live with Selwyn. Adela Milani. Honestly, the two were rather alike in looks, despite the age difference. Fire-like hair and somewhat similar eye colors. However, their tempers were different. Adela was more temperamental, whereas Natalie was calmer. The two didn’t get along very well sometimes, but developed a mutual understanding that they were sharing a tutor and therefore a house hold, and probably shouldn’t destroy the place. Natalie herself was actually rather fond of the younger girl, in a sister-she-never-had sort of way. They both shared somewhat similar backgrounds, after all.

After mastered the most of her power and having found a new one, at the age of fifteen she received an invitation to a place called Estrasia Academy. At her tutors urging, she agreed to attend, leaving Adela to perfect what skills she could with Selwyn.

Three years later, in her third year, she's already made a sort of name for herself - and that name mostly centers around ' keep an eye on her', as she developed a habit of sneaking out to the day wood and getting caught sneaking back in. (or simply floating over the barrier and running like hell when she gets caught.) However, she hasn't gotten kicked out. Yet.

[NOTE: as far as I know, rizu is still good with adela and nat having a history together.]

Personality: Natalie is, overall, normal, if not exceedingly whimsical. She grew up just like any other kid in Armlock: had a few good friends, was smart and loved art. Goofy is one way to describe her, always trying to cheer people up and make her friends laugh.
She’s a generally easy-going person, being able to make friends easily, usually by being her normal, goofy self. She doesn’t lose friends often, partly because she is feverently loyal to the ones she has.

She’s rather confident, (though not in a pompous, aloof way), not worrying about things like her grades and whether or not some guy likes her. She’s also pretty confident in her abilities, usually sure that it’ll work. It’s partially this that makes her such a fast learner when it comes to her powers. She's also rather blunt, though in an almost silly way - if she finds something ridiculous, she'll laugh while saying so.

She can occasionally be a flirt, but she usually just fake-flirts with her friends, only seriously flirting when she really likes someone, which, so far, has been far, as she sees most people as just a friend. It's not something she's fully realized, but her subconsciously avoiding relationships is caused by her parents basically abandoning her.

When she gets mad, it’s usually very controlled. If she’s extremely mad, her telekinesis kicks in and usually, things start floating, and if she's very mad, people. She rarely uses her super strength to hurt people, though.

She’s always up for a new adventure, often diving into something with no regrets. “Trouble”, to her, is something she gets into occasionally, but, like just about everything else, she shrugs it off and goes along living life and dealing with things when they hit her square in the face.

She loves being outside and learning new things. Butterflies and caterpillars are some of her favorite insects. It’s fitting, really, as she’s very down to earth when she wants to be.

She… could be described as a ‘cheap date’, in a sense. It’s very easy to make her laugh. She has a bit of a unique laugh. If she laughs hard enough, she snorts. Sometimes, people stare at her for it.

♜ SAMPLES

Third Person Sample:

Nat raised her hand in a wave as she stepped from her dorm, eyes lowered so as to avoid the harsh rays of the morning sun. Across the quad, her companion waved back and shouted a greeting - something along the lines of "G'morning, Nat!"

Since the middle of her second year, this had become a tradition. At least once a week, in the morning, she'd meet for coffee with her friend. Except usually, the morning wasn't so bright. Natalie stifled a groan at the still bright light as she smiled, pulling her sunglasses from the messenger bag slung over her shoulder and putting them on. The light dulled and she looked straight ahead, relief shining in her eyes from behind her sunglasses. The sunlight was unusually bright for the season it was - fall should never be so bright, she thinks, even if it is a nice change - and it showed, as multiple students around her pulled their own sunglasses on.

"What's up with the sun today?" she heard someone groan. Her reply is a shrug as she jogs across the quad to stop in front of her friend.

"Hiya!" she chirped, rocking back and forth on her feet. The sun beats down on her back. "Weird how bright it is, right? I was thinking it's probably the headmaster messing with us, but you never know, really!" In response, her friend smiles demurely and gestures for them to walk. "Right, right. Drinks, etcetera. What do you want, by the way? Drinks on me!"

"We're not getting drunk." Her friend jokes, and Nat softly punches her in the arm.

"I never said we were." She turns her nose up, crossing her arms immaturely. Of all the things she does, this is one of her favorites, simply because she can let go for a while. The hand that's not buried in her pocket brushes through her hair. Back in Mars, she'd be able to do this - just run off for a few hours - but never with such a lack of care. Selwyn would worry, Adela would probably scold her for leaving, the list goes on. It's funny, she thinks, how the place she was sent off to is the place that gives her the most freedom.

Her friend tugs her along and she shakes her head rapidly. "Sorrysorrysorry! I had a… song stuck in my head. The chords were escaping me."

"Silly musician girl," her friend chortles, taking her hand and tugging her into the coffee shop. Natalie glances at the options before her eyes settle on her usual- chai tea with chocolate. She grins. It's a normal drink, but they add cinnamon here, and it tastes awesome.
"Mocha chai, please!"

"Ditto." Her friend chimes in from behind her. Nat pulls out her money to pay and a few minutes later, the two sit with their drinks. "So," her friend starts, sipping precariously at the steaming drink. "What were you really thinking about?"

"How I don't have as much freedom to do things in Mars as I do here. That's it." A beat passes. "Also, the song I have stuck in my head." They laugh briefly before falling into silence, sipping at the steaming drink.

Their morning stretches on as the sun rises further and bathes the campus in a warm glow. Natalie casts her glance outside and again, it occurs to her just how lucky she is to be here.

First Person Sample:

Hi, Estrasia! It's nice to be back, huh? I thought it was shut down forever 'cause of the island falling and all, but I guess not! Heh. [ she chuckles once, and speaks in a lowered tone as the voice feed collects some static. ]

Another thing- I've heard rumours. About dragons. Apparently, they brought some in to guard the school and hold it up if it falls, which I think is kind of bull, but it's still awesome! Makes me want to go find one. Don't tell Fang!

Anyway. How's everyone been? I mean, I know how Adelas been - you can guess, haha! - but I don't know about the rest of you!
