She wondered how Michael slept with that club next door. She figured that she had been living there for so long that he must have been use to the noise. She, however, was kept awake by the thump-thump-thump of the music coming from the door. Sighing slightly, she rolled over and curled up closer to him, letting her hand rest on his side lightly. She was surprised how much she was adjusting to Miami. How much she was starting to like it there. How much she was counting down the days of her vacation and dreading her job. It was weird, and strange, and the transfer papers had been sitting on her desk for weeks, but she didn't want to submit them. Not yet. Not until he asked.
If he ever asked.
She was starting to doubt it, but she didn't know what else to do about it. She wasn't going to force herself on him, as much as she may have wanted it. He needed to want her there. He also needed a better apartment, which was neither here nor there. But for the time being, she just wanted him close, and that? She was getting. Mike was sleeping just fine, but when he felt her move against him, his arm went around her tightly. She sighed softly as she curled up closer, relaxing her body against his.
"Mm," he mumbled. "You're not sleeping."
"Can't sleep," she replied. "Your neighbors are too loud."
"Are they? I hadn't noticed."
"Mmm-hmm," she nodded, curling up against him and brushing a kiss to his chest.
His lips turned up slightly at that and he rubbed her back, his eyes still closed. "Need me to entertain you?"
"Maybe," she said, her fingers starting to wander.
He groaned softly and pulled her closer. He kissed her forehead softly. "You're trying to kill me aren't you?"
"Now what good are you to me dead?"
"Not much, but I'm still having trouble keeping up." He turned on his side and opened his eyes to her, holding her close still.
"I could slow down, if you want."
His fingers brushed through her hair and he watched her. "Nothing wrong with slow."
"Good," she grinned, before leaning in to kiss him gently.
He kissed her back slowly, his hand coming up to hold her cheek. He was getting real used to having her there, and he didn't want her going anywhere anytime soon. But at the same time, being there wasn't exactly safe for her. She sighed softly, sliding her arms around him and pulling him closer, just enjoying the contact.
"Glad you're here," he said softly, against her lips.
"Me too," she said. "I like it here most of the time."
He smirked. "Most of the time?"
"When you don't have noisy neighbors," she smirked back.
"I can make it up to you." He moved over her gently.
"Oh really?"
He nodded and leaned his lips down to her neck. She closed her eyes, tilting her head back and starting to roll back onto her back. His lips moved against her skin slowly as he kept close to her. He sighed softly as his mouth neared her ear. "Wish your trip was longer."
She paused slightly, running her hands over his back, and saw that as more of an opportunity than anything else he'd say. "Well -- it could be."
"Yeah?" He continued what he was doing, his hand moving down to her hip.
"I could -- come down here. Permanently."
He pulled up slightly to look down at her. God he wanted that. He sighed. "Jess," he said slowly. "You...know my life isn't exactly...routine here."
"I do," she said with a sigh. "And I'm a cop, Michael. I know how to handle myself."
"I know you do." His finger traced her jaw slowly. "I still want to keep you safe, though."
"Well, if you got an actual apartment, that might make things a little easier."
He frowned, more playful than anything else. "Are you trying to tame me?"
"Tame, no," she smirked back. "Just domesticate a little."
"And why would you want that?"
"Because," she said softly. "I like having you around. And there's nothing wrong with having a bit of normal in your life."
"You'd be willing to be my normal?"
"Yeah," she nodded, running her fingers through his hair lightly. "I would." He watched her for a moment, then leaned in and kissed her deeply. She kissed him back, sliding her arms around his neck tightly. "That a yes?" she murmured.
"Yes," he whispered. He moved in closer. "Big yes."
"Good," she grinned up at him, sliding his hands over his back.
He smirked. "Want to sleep now?"
"Not yet."
His arms circled her and he flipped them so she was on top of him. "What do you want?" He smiled.
"I've got a few ideas," she smirked back, before leaning in and nipping at his neck lightly.
His eyes closed. "Mmmm, I'm intrigued."
"Good," she murmured, continued to let her lips trail lower.
He groaned at that, his body pushing against her. She continued to push herself closer, settling her hips over his. When their bodies relaxed her held her tightly to his chest and sighed. She relaxed on top of him, resting her head against his shoulder and drawing circles on his chest.
He rubbed her back slowly and kissed the top of her head. "So...you're staying with me?"
"Well, we have to find a place down here," Jess said with a sigh. "And I have to go back for my stuff -- say goodbye to my dad. Actually get the transfer to MDPD. But -- yeah. I'm staying."
He frowned slightly. "I have a place."
"You need a better place, Michael," she replied. "If I'm living down here permanently, you need an actual apartment."
"But...but I like my loft."
"I know you do," she said with a look. "But I'd like to have actual walls, Michael. Maybe even an actual bedroom?"
He sighed and looked at her, his fingers brushing her cheek. He gave a slight nod. "Whatever you want," he said quietly.
"Thank you," she smiled, before leaning in to kiss him gently.
He kissed her back, his hand running through her hair. "Can I still keep the loft?"
She glanced around for a minute before shrugging. "If you want to."
He nodded and held her close again, relaxing. "Just...promise me you'll stay safe."
"I will," she nodded. "I promise."
"Good," he whispered.
"Good," she nodded, before relaxing against him starting to actually drift off to sleep. His arms tightened around her and he sighed, also starting to drift off. She was asleep a few minutes later, completely relaxed and happy. As was he.
