photos - Old Town Day of the Dead 2019

Nov 02, 2019 19:31

There's an area of San Diego called Old Town. It's an historic area with old buildings and a graveyard from the 1800s.
Parking is typically free, but today due to a festival, some roads were closed and parking was $15 in some spots and $10
in some other spots. It was free in other spots, but all those close to the area were taken. I wound up going up a winding
road to a place called Presidio Park and walking down steep hills to get to the area from where I parked.

Each photo can be clicked to enlarge. I took videos and may upload some to youtube and place them here.

This is the back of the Whaley House, which is a museum. http://whaleyhouse.org

There were three different areas where performances went on that I'm aware of.

Anyone could write a memorial here and leave a marigold.

These images are not from the Whaley House.

Shells made ssh-ssh noises when the dancer moved.

I wish I knew what was being burned.

I was the most long-winded of anyone leaving a memorial in the 1800s graveyard.  The two photos in the center are of my brother John.

1800s graveyard.
