Today I was a Godmother for the Christening of my only niece Georgia. She looked so cute in her dress but I am massively bias.
I was told to light a candle that had to stay lit as a significant symbol of faith and it promptly went out on me. I tried to cover it but the smoke gave me away so the priest let me do it again. My faux pas was most amusing to the 90odd people watching.
Georgia not only managed to not cry but she talked all the way through the service which again was amusing when her gurgles were well timed in places.
As usual Rich appeared ever so slightly uncomfy and found the catholic way of doing it weird. He also found the fact that the student priest being about 20 to be odd and gave the great line " I knew priests had to come from somewhere but didn't know they got them that young"
My entire family came out for it , including ones I haven't invited to our wedding ( that wasn't odd) so rich can now say he really had met all of them. He also seemed bemused that he's acquired most of the male side now going on his stag.
It was a proud moment and I'm glad that both my sister and her husband appeared to get a great day and a great turnout.
