Every Tuesday around 10am, or every-other Tuesday (it doesn't -really- matter), the city tests the air-raid/emergency sirens in my area.
I'm -so- used to them being periodically tested that if a disaster struck bad enough warranted the use of the sirens I would be completely unfazed by them and continue about my business.
Until, say, the sirens went off for an hour-or-so straight because I've heard them go off for over fifteen minutes at a time just for a -test-.
I also wonder if so many tests are really necessary.. what if they die just before they are seriously needed?
