Ms. Bezzini (X-Posted from OD)

I found out, a few days ago, that a teacher from my High School committed suicide. She was an 11th grade American History teacher, named Ms. Bezzini. I wasn't fortunate enough to have her for American History this year, because I took AP American. I had a terrible teacher for AP American, and all year people told me, "Too bad you didn't have Ms. Bezzini! You learn SOOO much in her class because she's really particular and interesting. Her class is really structured, too, and even though she can be bitchy and anal, she is still an awesome teacher. You actually learn history and like it." I kept wishing that I'd had the opportunity to have her; all year long I thought about changing classes.

Everyone who had her, or knew her, said that they would have never expected something like this from her. And by the way people have described her, I wouldn't have expected it either. A student of her's said she traveled all around the US, had been to every state, seemed very happy with spitting off stories about her travels - useless trivia, yet amusing to hear.

One person described her as having "it," or those special qualities that people can appreciate in teachers. I only saw her a few times, and spoke to her once, yet, I can see the magnitude of her loss in relation to our school, and it's really sad. So many people enjoyed her class, her stories, and I just don't see how someone like her.. Ms. Bezzini, American History Queen... well, you get my point.

It's sad, unfortunate - a great loss, indeed, not so much for myself, but for all who have had her, known her, or those who were yet to have her.  And, as they say, I guess you just never know about a person.

loss, high school, suicide
