i gotta vent.

so.. ignoring all the other issues related to the "gas tax holiday" that's been a beacon of news topics of late... i was watching some news channel this am and they were interviewing some senator from new jersey or someplace who is pushing legislation of the "gas tax holiday" that hillary is sponsoring.. blah blah blah..

so. dunderface gets on there and is talking about why this is a good idea, how important it is and such.. and thus begins my rant..

1. he makes a comment along the lines of, "well, i know there are many people out there who live in rural areas who dont have access to mass transit systems like i have access to"... DUDE! and they talk about obama et al being out of touch w the voters.. dude! "many people"??? id venture to guess that the VAST VAST majority of people dont have access to a nice mass transit system like you guys have bought for yourselves in DC.. and im supposed to believe that you RIDE the mass transit on a daily basis??? yeah.. rite.. you have your govt paid black limo to charge around town in...

2. "this is a short term solution, where we put regulations in place on the oil companies and traders to prevent them from speculative pricing which has caused the price of gas to go so high"... um, short term solution and somehow you'll manage to get the govt to set up these overseeing groups in charge of keeping the companies in check AND keeping traders from talking to each other about oil supplies? this is the same govt that takes 3 years to put together a report on the benefits of pulling hairs from moles on your face? and somehow you'll manage to get all this in place "quickly" and only for the short term.. i think we all know and remember what happens when things do go quickly.. coughpatriotactcough... coughtsacough.. quickly implemented, short term solutions... you have a stellar record on this.. if we were to actually trust you to do it and that it would work.. and besides we need the govt to be even larger and bigger and in control of every aspect of our lives...

3. when asked, "why not make it an initiative to promote research on alternative fuels, mass transit, etc. isn't a gas tax holiday really an excuse for americans to buy more gas, which increases our dependency on oil which is where this whole problem comes from and promoting more damage to the environment?" reply, basically, "well, we're looking into that but this is really just a short term solution to help out the people out there having to pinch pennies to be able to drive." nice ignoring of the question and problem...

i really dont know why we spend so much time fretting over the presidential candidates and not more time on firing the stupid fucks in congress and getting people who arent mealymouthed mouthpieces for the people giving them money....

argh.

im a pissy boy today...
