disinterested.

So, I was actively interested and engaged in paying attention to the US Presidential election campaign, listening to the debates, speeches, etc. But now that it's becoming the same old BS and crap that turned me off before, I'm disinterested in the whole thing anymore. Any poll takers, count me as "used to be interested, but not anymore."

I'm a believer that my vote must be earned. I get shit from my friends for not voting. "You have to vote, it's your right! You must let your voice be heard!" My response is, "I am letting my voice be heard. Give me someone who deserves and has earned my respect enough for me to cast my vote for them and I will. But until you give me someone worth my vote, I'll let my voice be heard by not voting." I don't understand how casting a vote for myself, Mickey Mouse, or Ralph Nader is any more of a statement to the powers that be than by with holding my vote.

So, count me as one of the disinterested in our future if you must, but for now, my vote goes back into my back pocket, collecting dust until someone actually deserves and earns my vote.
