some things.
well.. im limping along back online.. over a week ago the hard drive in my laptop decided to start making horrible noises.. after some pretending like it was fixing itself, it died.
took it to the new snazzy apple store in briarwood to have them make it better.. where i learned an odd thing or two.. the genius bar is cool and snazzy and all.. but they have a silly ass policy.. they were able to replace / fix my hard drive.. it was out of warranty so id get to pay for it. for over $300 they'd replace the bad hard drive w a like size hard drive (80 gig).. i asked what the charge would be for them to upgrade the hard drive. "oh, we cant do that. we can only replace it with the same thing that was broken".. "so if i want an upgrade, what are my options?" "go to best buy and have the geek squad do it"..
so.. i did and they did.. their waiting and service area isnt nearly as yuppie cool as the apple store, but for $80 less, i was able to get a faster, bigger hard drive in my computer (after having to give them the baby and wait 3 days for them to fix it)..
got it back. restored the o/s and some of my applications and data the computer said, "oh, you silly lad, you don't have a wireless network card installed." so, i figured the geek squad accidentially hit a cable or whatnot inside when they fixed the hard drive..
took it back to geek squad today to have them look at it.. "when you replaced the hard drive, i think you somehow disconnected the wireless card." "we shouldnt have done that." (me, no fucking duh. geek!) but i refrained from comment.. they wanted to keep it overnite for a few days so they could get around to popping open the case and check it. i wasnt ready to give them my baby again.. so i brought it home to see what i could do.. take it home and it magically sees wireless networks.. yeah! i think it just wanted to reboot before it decided the wireless card really was there.
im still confused about why hung won on top chef. dana shudda won.. then he gets screwed over on the popular vote... hung is not my top chef.. and now im getting hooked on "next iron chef american".. why are cooking contest shows getting my attention? and kidnation.. im enjoying kidnation... im so surprised at the decisions the kids are making.. but i was kinda hoping they'd teach us adults a little about how to play well with others and all.. but im sure most of the drama is set up by the producer to cause the striff/subject matter they have.. and then the editing keeps it "exciting" too... but still, the concept is interesting.. and surrpise the kids are making the decisions they are.
dexter cider mill is still the best.. unless someone can tell me of a good one.. wiards is nasty/boring/not tasty.. their donuts stink.... the one off of willisish area is pretty good but their donuts were a bit disappointing and the workers were a bit creepy.
im enjoying the cool fall weather but uncertain im a fan of the warm hot days.
i printed 100 images from my project so i could see them in print so i can pare them down to about 20.
grad school applications need more of my attention than im giving them rite now.
im concerned bout what we're doing to our planet, that i want to do more/do better but not and amazed more people are more shocked by what's going on. but they can cite the scores and players for the world series.
im just babbling coz ive been offline for over a week and my brain doesnt know what to do now that im getting my feeds again!
