Woooh, I won poker tonight. $money+=45.
I feel that I played very well, and I guess it showed. ROTC was talking earlier about who was good and who wasn't because certain people have won recently. But we said, winning once in a while doesn't really mean anything. But look who's always making it to the end, those are the better players. People get lucky as hell on some nights, but that can't make up for strategy over weeks and months. As usual it was James, Tom, Mark, and myself at the final table. Well we only use 1 table, but we were the last ones left sitting at it. It was pretty up an down all night. I took a rediculous chip lead on the first hand. Queens has pocket Jacks, I had pocket 5's. I made trip 5's on the flop, with some rags. Queens and I make some small bets, nothing major. Turn is another rag. At this point, the way he was betting, I figured he didn't stronger than a pair or 2, which I still had covered. On the river comes my 5. I contemplate a little, check my hand a few times, make sure I got all my cards right, and then go all in. Totally expecting to just buy the decen sized pot. Instead, he calls me. with Rock and Roll (2 pair Jacks and 5's == Jacks and 5 == Jackson Five), well I said I had 2 pair too. 5's and 5's. I think everybody was dumbfounded, but then James cackles and yells "Burned!" in typical James fashion. Doubling up on the first hand is definitely a nice start to the night. We let Queen's buy back in, and he played well, staying in for a long time. I never really dropped too low for the rest of the night. Head to head was kinda slow at first, but then I kept buying pots from Mark, and eventually he went all in and I called with high pair on the flop. I must say though that it was the one of the best games that I have ever played.
Well I should have been asleep hours ago considering I still have an upper respiratory infection thing. But alas, I'm retarded. I don't have anything to do until I have to work the Women's LAX and Women's Soccer teams at 3. Then it's Volleyball at Hotshots at 7. Saturday I am working the Women's Volleyball tourney all day. I figured I was gonna be there watching with the guy's team anyway, so I asked the head trainer if she needed me to cover the game. So now do I not only get to go and watch them play, but I get paid and I get to sit on the bench. I must say, I don't think I can go wrong there...
