“You’re kidding me, right?”
Zack uttered the word with such disbelief and turmoil, Cloud almost wanted to take it back just to spare himself the puppy eyes he knew would soon -- Ah, there they were.
“You’ve never had candy?”
If he knew Zack, and he liked to believe he did, the older boy was already plotting something. Cloud feared.
“We couldn’t really afford it growing up, and… Well, no one liked me, so it wasn’t like they were going to share. And once I came here, it never mattered. Sweets don’t really help when you’re training for SOLDIER. Stop looking like I kicked you.” Cloud narrowed his eyes in warning.
“This is just so wrong.” Zack stood up and began pacing, while his friend just ran a hand through his brightly colored spikes. “No person should ever go through life without suffering the torment of a sugar coma at least once.” He stilled and tilted his head to the side. “Actually, I think I’d like to see you on a sugar high. I bet it’d be the cutest thing.”
“Zaaack.” Cloud fought back a blush (he was really getting better at it) and tossed a pillow in his general direction. “Don’t go there. It’s no big deal. When I was a kid, maybe, but I’m not anymore so just kill the plan you’ve already come up with and let. It. Go.”

They were laying on Zack’s giant bed, completely dressed except for their shoes and socks. A giant bag of candy sat between them, and wrappers of various size and color littered the floor from the kitchen to the bedroom.
Cloud groaned and slung an arm over his eyes, the light burning into his brain and making his stomach turn over. “Someday, you’re going to learn to listen when I say no.”
Zack rolled a lollipop around in his mouth, savoring the cherry taste. “Good luck with that.” He leaned over and licked lightly at Cloud’s lips.
“Shut up and hand me another chocoball.”
