Apologies for not putting up a midweek news roundup, I've just not had time to do it. I'll do one this weekend once I get home, though, and try to get a handle on things. Until thing, the two majot things that are going on are:
•Corvino called a press conference today, not to announce the signing of LDS or the sale of Melo, but just to say that he's officially
received permission from the club to start putting recession clauses in contracts, and has already contacted the agents of some current players to talk about it. He says this makes Fiorentina the first club in Italy to adopt recession clauses as a policy, and
described it as a step toward a much needed culture change for a league that is "in trouble." [A quick transcript of the full presser is
here.]
•In his press conference, Corvino also said yet again that no one has asked to leave. He specifically asked why he'd try to sell Melo (if there continues to be no request) after
putting so much work into finding him and bringing him to the club, but the statement also applies to Seb despite the
explosion of rumors yesterday (which, interestingly, started in the Italian press, and were
total absent from the major Spanish sports papers) that Barca were going to offer
cash + Rafa Marquez for him.
