•Captain Dainelli, rocking a black eye thanks to Osvi (He apologized right away, alright?!), was in the press room on Wednesday [video|audio]. He said positive things about the team's performance against Bologna, but also noted that people in Florence tend to get VERY EXCITED about a couple wins in a row (or VERY DEPRESSED after two losses), and tried to keep everyone calm ahead of the Lazio match. He also went way out on a limb and said nice things about Mutu, lamented Santana's injury, and echoed Corvino's praise of the team's youth players. Really, it wasn't a particularly informative presser.

•Melo faced the press in a very good mood yesterday [video|audio], and was ludicrously cute when they asked him how he reacted when he first heard he was in the NT. (Watch the video, it's the first thing on there.) He said his usual, positive things about wanting to become a leader for Fioretina, and not to worry because he's not only going to see how his contract with the team, but would also be happy to talk about a 10-year commitment, if he could. In terms of immediate issues, he knows he gets too many yellow cards, but sometimes people are just really good, and he has to "throw them down" (LOLOLOLOL), and he's sure there are other people who can replace Santana more effectively than he, so he expects to be in his usual spot on Sunday.

•Even though Dunga has said he can't be sure Melo will even play, Melo nevertheless insists he really is going to eat Monty if he does. Not to worry, though -- Monty is going to dig a tunnel under him to escape. &hearts

•Santana's agent said yesterday that the poor guy is "in pieces" about his injury. Aw, god. They're apparently going to give it about 10 days before they decide about surgery, but whatever happens, Santana "live[s] to fight," and will be back "better than before." *sniffle*

•Based on what's been going on in training this week, it looks like Monty will be in Santana's place against Lazio, with Gobbi the person most likely to slide into his spot in the midfield. If Cesare does decided to go back to the 4-3-3, though, it'll be Pubes who replaces Santana in the team, but he'll line up with Mutu and Gila, like he did last season.

•Even though there's a chance it's going to get disrupted now, the Kuzi-Melo-Monty midfield has been all kinds of awesome recently. Even with Kuzi not in great form, the three of them are "nearly perfect," both in the words of adoring fan site writers and in terms of statistics: Melo's the second-best ball-winner in all of Serie A, and Monty's in the top 20, too. Hells yeah.

•Speaking of Monty, the fan sites are slobbering all over him lately, but the best headline so far, IMHO, is this one: The Little Prince has Become a King. *does not snicker even a little bit*

•By special request of hpsensations, here are a couple Pazzo links: A Gazzetta interview from yesterday (in which he talks about learning "to exploit the dirty balls"), and some quotes from earlier this week about missing Monty and the Della Valles.

•Corvino is (allegedly) going to London for the Brazil-Italy friendly next week, and it's being speculated that he'll also spend some time at the Chelsea offices, working on the Ivanovic deal.

•In other transfer news, Corvino's also allegedly got his "beady eye" (damn, Goal.com) on the awesome-but-pouty Mauro Zarate, Storari will probably be headed to Spain in the summer, and the €20 million pricetag Werder Bremen have put on Diego won't scare Fiorentina off, but his €3 million/season salary demand just might.

AHAHAHAHA!!! What was all that about a fancy Romanian cake, and a high-class buffet? LIES.

"Yeah, that's right. I did this. Like the cake?" (Plz to be noticing Ujfi's shirt.)

Cannot ... decide ... where to look.

YAY FIREWORKS.

Man, I'm sorry, but he wears that shirt even better than Mutu does.

Awwwww.

Ujfi: Wait. Where I am again? Why is no one speaking Spanish?

So, the shirt, it turns out, is NOT a one-off. Oh no, Adi's going to profit off his goals.

Souvenir Clubbing will be selling them, milking the tifosi for everything they're worth. (That's Mrs. Mutu, btw.)

(Gambit still has his contract with them! Nice.)

(This one actually make your boobs look like hers. It's a little more expensive than the other models.)
