•Osvi is playing for the Azzurrini against Greece right now -- he started on the right of a front three, and is tearing around as usual. He's also being praised by Mario Balotelli, who talked to the press yesterday about
the strength of the young Italian attack, specifically mentioning Osvi (among others).
•Dainelli was in the press room today [
video |
audio], saying that he's happy to have stayed, and is
grateful for the support of his teammates regarding the captain issue. Also, like Pazzo, he a)says he's got no problem with Prandelli's team decisions -- Dainelli says he works hard to be picked but the Mister "makes the choices" -- and b)fucks with Toni via text message. Hee.
•Gazzetta dello Sport ran a longish interview with Frey this morning; one of the fan sites has reproduced it
here. He talks about playing in Florence til he's 40, his dream of playing for Les Bleus (*sigh*), Buddhism, and his improvement as a keeper. &hearts
•Mutu's
intention to appeal FIFA's decision has been officially lodged with the Court of Arbitration for Sport. There's no word on when the hearing will be (that I can find, anyway), but they say their decisions are usually issued without four months of the appeal, so it'll be a while before we hear.
•Jojo was interviewed in the Montenegrin press yesterday and said
all sorts of nice things about Florence: He loves the city and the people, and he and his family (who moved with him!) are settling in just fine.
•Former Milan and Fiorentina striker Stefano Borgonov
revealed today that he's got ALS; the two teams have
schedule a benefit match for October 8 @ the Artemio Franchi. All proceeds will go to a foundation Borgonov has set up to fund ALS research. (There's really scary stuff under that first link about the number of ex-players who have died from the disease, and about the suspicion that groundskeeping chemicals might be involved. Yikes, yikes, yikes.)
•And, finally, I'm really worried
Gila is losing his hair. Y/y?
