Adrian Mutu has pledged his future to Fiorentina and pleaded with striker partner Luca Toni to stay at the club. Mutu has enjoyed an excellent season with the Viola, who have contended for UEFA Cup qualification despite starting the season with a 15-point penalty.

With a fifth-place finish the target for Cesare Prandelli's men, Mutu said he was excited about the future in Florence.

"Maybe I have made a few mistakes in recent weeks but I think I have made my contribution over the season," he said. "It is not always easy to play at the top level and you need to grit your teeth. We are playing for three points against Cagliari and my future is with the Viola. Toni is a Fiorentina player and very important to the team. It is not for nothing that he is a World Cup winner and he has given a lot to the team this season."

Toni seems certain to leave the club in summer, with Inter and Bayern Munich both publicly declaring their interest. The Italian international is just months shy of his 30th birthday and with exceptional youngster Giampaolo Pazzini waiting in the wings, Viola may decide to cash in on their prize asset.
