2016 Team Writing Challenge
Hello and welcome to forvixx! Here, we present to you our new event, 2016 Team Writing Challenge
Please read all the rules before signing up! They're important and there are changes compared to our last event.
RULES AND DETAILS:
This time around, we're hosting all the fics on Archive Of Our Own and fics will be posted in the linked collection. However AO3's challenge system does not support our type of challenge, so sign-ups will be on LJ as usual where the rest of the event will also be mirrored. If you do not already have an AO3 account to post from when posting is due, feel free to ask the mods for an invite.
This won’t be our usual fic exchange with anonymous writers and recipients, as already hinted. Inspired by kpop-olymfics, this will be a writing challenge done in teams! Participants will be split into three teams, which will receive the same prompts, and then participants will work together within your own team; you can brainstorm and discuss your ideas with them, be each others' beta-readers, and receive and give feedback. Motivate each other and keep the spirit high! The prompts will be provided by the mods, a list consisting of songs, words, photos, quotes and pieces of poetry, but the rest, pairings, raitings, etc. is entirely up to yourself!
THE TEAMS
Team Canon & Alternate Reality - Writers of Team Canon & AR work within the realms of what has happened in the world of Kpop and what might have been if a few things didn't go as planned - a few twists here and there, maybe. From an idol's trainee past to their present, writers here have a whole slew of facts, events, and pictures to work with.
Team Alternate Universe - Writers of Team AU are free to write anything from Terminator!AU to Pirate!AU. In order to distinguish Team AU from Team Alternate Reality (AR, now merged with Canon), we're limiting it so that Kpop as we know it does not exist in fic the writers of Team AU will write. It is possible for idols and idol groups to exist, but the story must function or exist outside this setup.
For example, VIXX are a bunch of interns at a hospital and one of Jaehwan’s methods to de-stress is to learn the choreography of girl idol groups. Or, Jaehwan is an ATP ranked tennis player who just so happens to see a billboard of Big Bang or something. The main focus of the story has to be on the alternate universe created by the writer; aspects or characteristics of "reality" must be peripheral.
Team Future - Working with what we know now, writers of Team Future have to look down the road, five, ten, maybe even twenty years from now to see what has become of our idols. In short, future!fic.
• This is a team writing challenge. Participants will be divided between the three teams equally, and each team will receive an identical prompt list. Each member is only required to write one fic (prompt.)
• Members of the same team are free to interact with each other as much as they’d like, and they are responsible of dividing the prompts amongst themselves.
• This is an anonymous challenge, so keep your assignment a secret until reveals! Especially friends who are fellow participants of different teams!
• Your fic should have at least 2,000 words. No less, but gladly more.
• There are two check-ins, and further details regarding the check-in will be announced when it approaches.
For the 1st check-in, we’d like you to send us a draft of what you have been working on so far, but there is no minimum word count for the draft you send.
For the 2nd check-in, we’d like you to send us a draft of at least 1,000 words.
• If we don’t receive your check-in, we’ll take it as you dropping out of the exchange. Please do not drop out by not sending us your check-in, inform us directly instead and as fast as possible.
• You will be blacklisted from future exchanges if you drop out after the last day of drop out without notifying us.
• If you disappear without a word during the exchange, you will receive a warning. If this happens a second time, you will be blacklisted as well. We understand that life can get in the way of fandom, but please let us know if that is the case!
• Please do not sign up if you feel that you are unable to finish your fic.
• Please contact the mods as soon as possible if you realise you won’t make the deadline and you need an extension.
• Crossovers are allowed.
• No non-con (rape). We do not accept non-con as a plot device in this challenge.
• If you have signed up as a pinch-hitter, your second assignment might not match your sign-up form. You may decline if we ask you about pinch-hitting; all we want from you is to finish your own assignment.
• Sign up with an email that you regularly check. Besides your assignment, a lot of information will also be sent to the participants by mail, so please remember to check your mail during the writing period.
• When the time comes, upload your fic on AO3 in this collection. More details are to come when we get closer to the deadline.
• A beta is highly recommended! Please do not ask a fellow participant to beta your fic. If there seems to be a general problem with finding beta-readers, the mods will try to help reaching a solution. You may indicate this in your sign-up form.
• We encourage everyone to read and comment on the other fics posted in relation to this challenge. Spread the love!
• A masterlist will be posted on LJ along with the reveals by the end of the exchange.
