[There's a blonde girl staring at you. That's all. Just... staring....

After a few moments, she speaks as though reading off of cue cards.]

My name's Agent Hagan. [She flashes a badge.] FBI. I... am fresh outta Quantico. [She's starting to settle into it now, and sounds less stilted.] Yeah, I read a little about this place. I mean, I know, ( Read more... )

Relax. That's the number one rule of succeeding in the Bureau. If you act like you know what you're doing, people will believe it.

Nick Halden, FBI.

Can I show you around?

[Parker should not have agreed to this. What was she thinking? She couldn't talk to a real FBI agent! He'd figure it out!

Okay, she just had to relax. That's what Sophie said. Well, the guy had said it too. She put on her Hagan suit, pulled her hair back, and slipped her FBI badge into the pocket of her suit jacket.

She could do this. She could do this. Hanging out with other people was what normal people did, so she'd do it. She'd fooled a couple FBI agents in her time, she could totally do it again. ...Without anyone to help her. Totally.

She headed upstairs to the eighth floor common room.]

[Neal left for the common room early, hoping to catch sight of which room she was in. He didn't notice where she came from as he got distracted glancing about the room, turning around to notice her already strolling his way. It would be an interesting conversation, not sure he believed her about being in the FBI. Then again, it wasn't like she had any reason to believe he was a federal agent.. because he wasn't.

He flashed a wide and charming smile in usual Neal fashion as she actually entered the room, stepping forward in a few easy strides to offer her his hand to shake in greeting.] Agent Hagan?

[Parker glanced at his hand before remembering to shake it and smile back at him.] "Yeah. And you're Agent Halden." [She gave a short laugh, aiming for lively but coming out ever so slightly awkward.]

Oh, you wanted to see my ID, right? I mean, it's only fair since you showed me yours. I would love to take a look at it again if you don't mind, though. I'm curious to see how much the Bureau's changed them.. You know how they enjoy spending extravagant amounts of money on unnecessary expenditures.

[His wide and confident smile said that this was all just a normal conversation for him and he didn't hesitate to pull from his inside jacket pocket the single-fold leather case which contained his 'FBI Consultant' papers. The lack of badge remained concealed within the fold at the moment as he held the leather case out to her, then holding out his other hand expectantly for a trade. Though his would say he was not a Federal Agent, it still confirmed his work with the FBI. He suspected hers might not be the same.]

"Ohhh sure," [Parker said, sounding slightly weary. Interacting with normal humans always felt like a bit of a chore after the first few minutes. She pulled out her own leather case and flipped it open, turning it sideways so he could read the i.d. card opposite the badge. Hardison was the best at his job - she was confident it would stand up to the scrutiny of even a real FBI agent.

In turn, she reached for the case he was holding out to her.]

[Neal took her badge from her in exchange for his own, releasing it for her to scrutinize as much as he planned on looking at hers. The badge was flawless, but something about the ID caught his attention. He held it at an awkward angle in the light for a moment, then lifted it close to his face to peer at the subtle bordering. His smile never faltered.]

Not bad. The border ink is a semi-gloss instead of a matte, though, and the last few pixels on the tip of the eagle's wing are grainy. It's nothing the average agent would notice, but.. [He expected she would have realized he wasn't an agent either by now and, as if to help his explanation, motioned to the 'consultant' title.] ..I specialize in forgeries. Is this your work?

[Another charming grin. He was unperturbed.]

"This says you're a..." [Parker's brow furrowed as he pointed out that there were things wrong with her i.d. Out of all the people she could meet in a prison, she had to run into a guy who knew about that stuff.

She snatched her badge back and gave him a stern look, feeling defensive on behalf of Hardison. Stern quickly transitioned into skeptical and then to scrutinizing as she sized him up.] "No, I didn't make it."

But you're still using it. [He replied, particularly amused and not accusing in any way. Neal held out his hand for his badge without any hint of impatience.] Con artist?

[Parker handed his badge to him before curtly tucking hers away.] "Thief. Mostly," [she said snippily, a little annoyed at being found out. She'd known this would turn out to be a bad idea.]

[Neal canted his head, considering whether or not it was worth pulling her into his trusted circle before everyone else found out. It really depended on if she was any good. Obviously con artistry was not her strong suit and she had someone else for forging, but she was a thief and he had never been amazing at that. That was Alex's job.]

Are you good?
