I haven't forgotten to write something about my last days in Estonia for completeness' sake, but I just can't be bothered right now. So instead:
Discworld meme, stolen from
asthenie_vd 1) If forced to pick an era, would you chose early, middle or later Discworld, for preferred reading?
I haven't read much from the later era as I'm generally proceeding by publication order. So middle.
2) Favourite all-time Discworld character?
Death and Granny Weatherwax. Preferably together, their scene in Maskerade is one of my all-time favourite Discworld moments.
3) Favourite non-Discworld Pratchett book?
Haven't read any yet.
4) Favourite Discworld book featuring the Witches?
Maskerade.
5) Favourite Discworld book featuring the City Watch?
Night Watch.
6) Favourite Discworld book featuring Moist / Rincewind?
It's a tie between Going Postal (by default for Moist, haven't read anything else) and Interesting Times.
7) Favourite book featuring a non-recuring character?
Does Moving Pictures qualify as non-recurring? It has got the wizards, including Ridcully, but only as supporting characters.
Otherwise I'd got with Small Gods.
8) Do you have a least-favourite Discworld book?
Eric and Jingo tied for the lead, with Sourcery close behind.
9) If you were introducing someone to the Discworld series, where would you suggest they start?
Moving Pictures, or Wyrd Sisters, or Going Postal. Although Colour of Magic is a possibility too, I started there and it worked for me.
10) Favourite Discworld placename?
I'll go with the Counterweight Continent.
11) Favourite Discworld concept? (L-Space, "It's a million to one shot..." etc)
It's lame to go with one of the suggestions, but I can't think of anything better than L-Space.
12) Do you have a favourite Discworld Quote?
Right now, maybe "divide by Cucumber". But it changes according to the last book I read.
13) Do you prefer Death or the Patrician?
Even if I hadn't just finished Hogfather, which is full of beautiful Death moments and quotes, it has to be Death.
14) Mrs Cake or the Bursar?
The Bursar. By default because the wizards are my favourite group of characters, and because I can't remember a great Mrs Cake moment right now.
15) The Luggage or the Librarian?
The Librarian. He's with the wizards.
16) Grebo or Nobby?
Nobby. Greebo became less cool in Witches Abroad (no spoilers, I you've read it you know what I mean).
17) Trolls or Dwarves?
Trolls. Specifically, Detritus.
18) Just how much do you like the Discworld series, anyway?
A lot, but it doesn't come close to the Hitchhiker's Guide.
