Setting:In the future humanity manages to discover the ruins of an alien civilization on Mars. With this discovery things take off, and eventually humanity takes notice of "oh hey there's this giant thing near Pluto." This thing is known as a mass relay and there are tons of them all over space. Thanks to the stuff on Mars humanity figures out how to use these mass relay things and set out to explore and a bunch of stuff happen.

As it turns out a bunch of alien species exist and there's this mass space station known as the Citadel which homes the Citadel Council, a governing body made up of a few alien species. Things are a bit rocky at first, but eventually humanity settles into the giant space community. Some aliens don't like humans and some humans don't like aliens. Just like in the movies!

The mass relays and the Citadel were created by this really old alien species known as reapers. They are really big, space-ship sized bug cuttlefish things that sit and wait for species to develop enough then swoop in and gather every thing up, to do stuff with genetic material and who knows what else.

So this guy named John Shepard gets a nice promotion and has to fight off one of the first reapers named Sovereign. And he does and then everyone knows who he is.

Basically this.

Some time passes and Shepard's ship is under attack, and he gets killed making sure everyone else gets off alive. Cue a very obsessive asari named Liara, one of Shepard's crew trying to track him down, or at least find his body. She heads to Omega, a station made from an asteroid. This is where she meets Feron, an extremely colourful drell, whom she hopes to get information from. He informs Liara that it is hard to say if Shepard is dead or not, although he is certainly not alive, and that the body has been recovered in a stasis pod.

She informs him that she has to see Shepard for herself and it's her money so Feron agrees - she wasn't really taking no for an answer anyway. But things are never that easy and they get attacked by
the Blue Suns, a mercenary group whom the Shadow Broker sent after them.

The Shadow Broker is a mysterious figure that knows all and has more people working for him than you could imagine. He deals in information trading and will happily provide it, given you can pay the price. He also happens to be Feron's boss.

Just to top off their luck, the two run into Cerberus a prohuman group. Or as Feron calls them a prohuman hate group. They also want Shepard's body and Liara agrees to work with them to get it back. Feron agrees to help her, after getting a good punch and an earfull of yelling, in addition to explaining that he does work for the Broker and was just attempting to lead her away, not get her killed by mercs.

They head down the Afterlife Club to meet with Aria, the ruler of Omega, in hopes to figure out where Shepard's body will be. After obtaining the information and heading to the location the two found the Blue Suns moving Shepard's body onto a ship, and a rather large salarian; Tazzik, the Shadow Broker's personal enforcer.

A small fight breaks out, and Tazzik escapes with Shepard's body. After some more yelling at Feron, the two hop into Feron's ship and head to the Broker's base. They then sneak into the command center and Feron downloads the Broker's dealings information before Liara trashes the place.

Before the two go to retrieve Shepard's body, Feron pulls Liara aside to inform her who he's really working for. It turns out that he had found out that the Shadow Broker was working with the Collectors and was extremely displeased by this. He had been about to walk and stop working for the Broker when he found out about Shepard's body and knew he had to stop it.

He and the head of Cerberus, the Illusive Man, had a chat and a plan was determined for getting Shepard's body before the Collector's could obtain it. Since then he'd been working for Cerberus, although no one, but the Illusive Man knew this. It was safer that way.

Feron gives Liara the space USB key with the Broker's dealings on it, and they go to get Shepard's body. But not before Liara gives him a little pep talk.

After a failed Feron plan and another fight later, Feron realizes that is Liara is going to get away with Shepard's body he will have to sacrifice himself and does so by holding off Tazzik long enough for her to get on the ship and fly off.

Cerberus is then able to put Shepard back together and Feron is tortured for the next two years.

Fortunately for him, Liara never gave up and with Shepard's help, saved Feron those two years later, after killing the Shadow Broker. Liara took over the Shadow Broker's job and Feron has decided to stay with her at the base to help fix up the place, and sort his own head out.
MASS EFFECT WORLD EXPANSION
Mass Effect takes place in a future where the discovery of ruins from an alien civilization (located on Mars) lead to an advancement in technology. With the years that followed the study of what was found on Mars, the human race was able to create faster-than-light space travel. This was mostly thanks to the spectacular find of a new element known as element zero. Electrical currents passed through this element allow for the creation of mass effect fields which can either decrease or increase the mass of whatever is located within that field.

Element zero is not only used for faster-than-light space travel, but also used to create deadlier guns and shields, even medicines. Exposure to this element in dust form, before birth, can result in the fetus developing brain tumors or other complications. Although in rare cases it can create what is known as a biotic. Biotics can create tiny mass effect fields, which is incredibly useful in fights. Consider it like some form of space-telekinesis.

Humanity also eventually discovered a mass relay floating about in space near Pluto. Mass relays are located all across space and act as a really neat transportation system. They allow for quick travel from one mass relay device to another; bypassing all that boring, super-long, "are we there yet," space travel from point A to point B. Where flying through space from one place to another could take years, the use of the mass relays takes only seconds.

The mass relays were created by this super old alien species of bug-cuttlefish, known as reapers. The reapers are a synthetic race about the size of a spaceships, and left all of their fancy travel machines out in the open for newly advancing races to discover and use. They didn't do this out of the goodness of their reaper hearts however. Instead it was done as a super secret plot in order to harvest up all sentient life every 50,000 years or so. With the new sentient species developing around their technology they are far more predictable and easier to harvest.

Which brings us to the Citadel. In addition to the mass relays the reapers also built this giant space station - a kind of central hub for all of their mass relays. If you use the mass relays you're sure to find the Citadel.

When humans arrived on the scene there was already a galactic council located upon the Citadel. Yes, in the future all kinds of aliens exist. This Citadel Council is made up of (at first) a representative from three species: the asari, the salarians, and the turians. And at the end of the first Mass Effect game humans are added into the council. This council is responsible for maintaining order throughout Citadel space.
Humans managed to obtain a spot on the Council for assisting in the defeat of Sovereign and its geth army.

Despite all of this there is still tons of this alien species doesn't like this alien species. Some races love each other, while some hate. Just like in almost every story with aliens ever.

The things the Citadel Council cannot resolve normally are given to the Spectres. Spectres answer only to the Council and often work alone or in a small group to preserve the order of things.

Personality:Feron is an information trader, just your typical guy you would think is only in it for the money. That's only partly true. At first he had worked for himself, until the Shadow Broker's people contacted him. He did in fact join up with the Shadow Broker's team because of the money; the Shadow Broker could provide him with more money than he could earn working for himself. A small price to pay. But Feron has morals and he does follow them. An information trader has to have standards you know.

If he takes a job he finishes it, he won't screw his client over by letting someone else pay him off. No matter what his client is truly up to, you can be sure he'll finish the job given if he's agreed to it.

His loyalty to his clients does have a limit however, another thing tying back to his morals. The Shadow Broker working with the Collectors for example, was disgusting to him. He's an information trader, not a slaver. The trade of living beings or bodies is something he just won't do. That kind of thing is something that will make Feron walk, or refuse to take the job. In some extreme cases (like the Broker wanting to give the Collectors Shepard's body) Feron will take action and do his best to stop whatever it is from happening.

Feron can also be a bit of a joker at times, making doofy comments or smart alec remarks. This often happens during times of stress and is likely just to lighten the mood, or make himself feel better.

His life as an information trader has made him exceptionally good at lying, and can tend to make people a bit wary of trusting him. He will lie where it's needed without even a blink, it's just routine. That isn't to say he won't do his best to be honest when it's needed. Depending on the situation he will try not to lie, or leave people in the dark about things. For his friends? He'll still lie from time to time, but will make an extra special effort to be honest. Or at least inform them that he lied... a bit later on.

When it comes to fighting and conflict, Feron's more of the kind of guy to run or sneak away. It's not that he's cowardly, but he knows when he's beat and he's never been the best of fighters. He can use a gun, and he can fight, but it's no where near his specialty. If there is a moment where fighting is required, like protecting a friend, or helping save Shepard's body, then his courage and loyalty shines through. He is willing to sacrifice himself by fighting and holding off as many as he is able (which isn't really that many) in order for his friend to escape.

And then he was tortured for two years...

Despite that fact he still comes off as mostly sane. He doesn't really like talking about what happened and avoids going into detail, although it can be quite obvious that it has affected him. He will constantly claim that he's fine, or will be fine. He's still working on getting better.

Abilities & Weaknesses:Feron is a drell, as such he possesses the drell's perfect memory. This means that he is capable of recalling things with perfect clarity, and can mentally escape into old memories - which when recalled can be as real as actual reality for the drell. They can basically mentally relive their memories. Recalling a memory is not always a voluntary choice, and can be triggered by the environment/situation/etc.
Feron would escape into his memories a lot while being tortured, in order to cope.

In addition to this drell do poorly by water/in humid areas, as their species originated from a desert type planet. Remaining in a humid climate can result in the erosion of their lungs, and then eventually the rest of their organs. Due to that it is best to keep your drell in dry, arid type climates.

Drell skin excrete a substance that when ingested can cause one of a non-drell species to hallucinate. And prolonged contact with their skin can cause rashes - at least to humans.

Before being tortured for two years, Feron had been an information trader. As such he can be quite good at obtaining information that others would not know about or would not have. In addition to this he can be quite the smooth talker... Not that it works all the time. Or often even. But he can he and he tries to be. He does have his moments when he can gather the information he needs, and he's incredibly good at what he does, but there are times you wonder how he's not dead yet. Moments complete and utter Feron fail. Especially when it comes to his plans.

Feron's plans are a thing all on their own. When Feron says not to worry he has a plan, be ready for things to go wrong, or at the very least not according to plan as they usually seem to get him into trouble. His plans actually working are few and far between, but he does have his moments. [Or at the very least in the comics only about a couple of his plans work, while the rest get messed up somehow.] The failed plans never seems to stop him from coming up with new ones.

He's also a pretty good pilot.

Samples ;
Log Sample:Being woken up by the sensation of falling through the air wasn't what Feron had ever expected. It wasn't even anywhere on the list of what he was expecting, not the usual routine of being woken up by that annoying VI, or by a nightmare he'd never tell anyone about. There were really only two on the ship with him, he could speak to. Liara and the VI - which was already ruled out. Liara... He couldn't burden her with something like that, not with how busy she always was and what she'd already done for him.

Not that any of this mattered at the current moment of him falling through the air and then crashing into the ground hitting who knew what.

His body winced at pain all too familiar.

He could remember them strapping him down to the chair. The Broker's shadow. The smell of his own blood. Groups of men around him so the Broker could make an example of him. Of why you don't go against him. This is what happens. Then pain, so much pain that he blacks out.

He'd have to pick himself up and figure things out all over again. Don't think about it. Not now. Don't remember.

Feron slowly pushed himself up, legs weak and slightly wobbling. Where was he? And how did he get from his bed to this place? The Collectors maybe? But if so then where was Liara?! Did they find out what had happened to the previous Broker? What had happened, all he did was fall asleep!

Frantically he looked around, called out her name a few times with no answer. This wasn't good.

"Welcome to Sacrosanct."

He froze almost immediately. Where now?

Network Sample:So, uh -- does this happen a lot, or is it more of a rare as violent hanar thing?

[There's a significant pause.]

Last I remember I was sleeping, someone please tell me I don't need another rescue. I couldn't ask her to do that for me. Not again.
