[ It was only pure luck that Yuan's message managed to get to Martel. For the past few weeks, she has been searching for her missing brother non-stop. She would have enlisted help from others, but she was aware of Mithos' lack of popularity with everyone (with the exception of Kaori of course).

Although burdened with worry, she was able to notice the mysteriousness of Yuan's message. As a matter of fact, how long has it been since she last heard of him? While he was indeed avoiding her, he at least had the curtsey to check on her once in awhile. ]

Uh . . . I'm really sorry but there's something that really needs my attention.

[ As much as she wanted to talk to Yuan, finding Mithos came first. ]

[Yuan suspects that this "something" that needs Martel's attention would be Mithos. Still, even if it were something else, it's important that they discuss this as soon as possible.]

It's about Mithos.

Mithos?! You . . . You know where he is?!

[ If she wasn't speaking to someone at the moment, she would have cried with joy. ]

Where is he?!

... I think it's best if we discuss this in person.

[And then he realizes how this might sound to Martel, so he adds:] Mithos is unhurt, but the situation is a little more complicated than that.

[ Thousands of possibilities ran through her head. Mithos wasn't hurt. That brought much relief, but if he wasn't hurt or dead, then what happened to him? What was so complicated that required Yuan to have him speak to her in person? Especially when he was trying everything in his power to avoid her. ]

Alright. Where do you want to meet up?

Alright.

[ Without another word, she looked out the window. She would be happy with Yuan coming to visit her. Would be happy. With Mithos missing nothing in the world could possibly lift her sullen mood. (Besides the miraculous return of her brother.) ]

[Roughly ten minutes later, Yuan arrives outside Martel's house, a somewhat heavy feeling settled in the pit of his stomach. He knows he has to be the one to tell her this, but it doesn't make things any easier. After taking a deep breath, he knocks on the front door.]

[ Barely a moment passed when the door was opened. In her eagerness to learn what happened to Mithos, she waited by the door anxious for Yuan's arrival. If their relationship wasn't so . . . distant, she would have hugged him. ]

Yuan, you're here! Please tell me where's Mithos? Is he alright? I mean you told me he was unharmed, but I just want to make sure!

[Yuan hangs his head, not quite daring to look at Martel as he steps inside the house. He closes the door behind himself before he speaks.]

A few weeks ago, Mithos attacked someone again. Without provocation. The Malnosso took him for individual experiments not long after.

[ A huge part of her died inside. ]

What? W-where is he now?!

[ She tries to keep herself together, but her voice comes out shaky and her eyes glazes over. Has she failed her little brother a second time? ]

[Yuan picks up on her distress easily, but he knows things are only going to get worse for Martel. He has no idea how she'll respond to this, either. That's why he is definitely not meeting Martel's gaze as he answers her question.]

Raine, Sheena and I decided that it would be for the best if we imprisoned Mithos for a while. To stop him from harming any more villagers. The three of us set up an ambush for when he was returned by Malnosso and succeeded in capturing him.

[ The bottom of her lips start to tremble. She was completely speechless on what to say. She knew Yuan and Mithos' relationship wasn't the best, but did it get so bad that Yuan was willing to imprison her brother?

She looked up at Yuan with tearful eyes. Tears were already starting to roll down her cheek. He still wasn't looking at her. ]

Yuan . . . Why? Is that really necessary? Please I'm begging you! Just release him!

[She's crying- he can tell as much, even without looking at her. To think she could feel such sorrow over a monster like Mithos. One might think it's because he's her brother, but Yuan's long since learned that Martel can feel sympathy for any monster, regardless of blood ties.]

We will release him once he's no longer a danger to others. [Yuan's convinced this will never happen, though.]

[ Her eyes are overflown with tears now. How could he talk about Mithos that way? Imprisoning him would only agitate him more and would solve nothing. She struggles to speak through her hiccuping sobs. ]

Y-Yuan! Please d-don't do this!

[ Without thinking, she pulls him into a tight embrace and sobs muffled cries into his shoulder. ]

[Yuan instantly freezes in her embrace. He wasn't expecting her to get this close and part of him wants to shove her away because it's just too painful to have her right here, knowing she's supposed to be dead. Knowing that when she disappears again, it's going to hurt so damned much he's better off keeping his distance.

Meanwhile, another part of him wants to return the embrace and comfort her, because he just feels so incredibly guilty for putting her through this. Unable to decide which course of action is better, he just stands there, eyes firmly shut.

It's all very conflicting and confusing, but through the jumbled mess one thing remains clear: He can't agree to release Mithos. It was a unanimous decision he made with Raine and Sheena, the latter of which was attacked by Mithos. It's just not safe. Martel can believe what she wants, but she just can't stop her brother from hurting people.]

... I have to. It's the only way.
