[The first thing that can be heard is a strange sort of background noise. It may seem like static, but after a few moments it can be identified as squeaky hooting. As for Yuan? He doesn't sound amused.]

How the hell do you drive away pesky birds without killing them?

I've heard that shiny objects can serve as a deterrent to birds. Failing that, you could always try erecting a scarecrow.

Something tells me the animals in this village have seen so many strange things, they won't be intimidated by something as simple as a scarecrow.

Perhaps, but you cannot say for certain until you have given it a try.

I'm sure there are methods with a higher success rate I can waste my time on.

Were we back in our world, I would happily provide you with a sample of the Lezareno Company's patented bird repellent. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to replicate the mixture with the technology available to us here.

No, it's fine.

[Patented bird repellent, what the hell. Who in the world would waste their Gald in that? It wouldn't be useful unless you get harassed by a Garuda or something similarly vicious.]

[And now he hears the hooting.]

Is the bird in question an owl, by any chance?

I seem to recall reading that they have extremely sensitive hearing, so loud noises might work as well.

Just loud or high-pitched?

I suspect that either one would work, though you may have more success if you combine the two.

... I'll try putting the teakettle on the stove.

[That's really the best thing he can think of. Dog whistles probably don't exist in the Symphonia universe.]

Please let me know if that works out. If not, someone like Raine might know of some herbs that will drive it away.

Yeah, yeah. Fine.

[Meanwhile, the owlet is still chattering away happily, uttering all sorts of sounds that aren't words, not even when you're Filial. So irritating. It's starting to give Yuan a bit of a headache, which makes his expression even more sour when he finally says:]

... Thanks.

[He doesn't know Yuan all that well, but something tells him that the other man isn't the type to say thanks very often.]

You're welcome.
