Uh, I just realized I never posted about the Rufus Wainwright concert I went to last week!!

It was AMAZING.

Woolsey Hall at Yale, where the concert was.

Rufus at the piano. Nice beard, yeah?

Rufus with his aunt, Sloan Wainwright. She was the opener, too.

And Rufus with his guitar. Oh, and it's not that I suck at catching him with his eyes open, he just pretty much never opens them while he's singing, hehe.

I was on the aisle and had a great view of him. The way his voice filled Woolsey was just wonderful. It was fun how I knew why he chose which songs he sang... because it was an AIDS benefit concert hosted by Yale GLBTA so most of the songs he picked were ones with either a gay theme or reference. I also got to hear a few new songs! He sang Sonnet 20 from the project where he composed songs out of Shakespeare's sonnets, Liberty Cabbage which was one of the first songs he ever wrote, and also one called Zebulon that is pretty new that he also sang at the Albany concert I went to. But yes, anyway, it was the best concert I've ever been to! Of course he also had his great sense of humor, too... he seemed especially relaxed and happy. I've been to Woolsey Hall several times for various things, including camp... I think I may even have performed there for some school event when I was a kid... but now I'll always remember it as where I saw Rufus and heard that perfect voice. :)
