why it's so bloody essential for the newspapers to publish Tiger Woods' confessional pieces on such a regular basis? Even at the height of his career, when the man was all about putting on and off the course, he didn't merit so much space in the sports pages.
I'm not about to get on the pulpit about tabloid journalism but you can only hang a man for so long about giving his Johnsons extensive workouts outside the marital bed. He was and is a sportsman, philandering notwithstanding. I mean do we really have a right to comment on his personal choices, good or bad? How much of his public appeal had to do with the fact that he was ostensibly happily-married? He was liked by sponsors and fans alike for his talents and success.
why lame photos of sweaty cheerleaders can capture front page coverage but other important/unusual/human interest news is relegated to the inside pages?
why of all the gossip out there, TOI regularly devotes time to a airhead like Paris Hilton? Her brand value has been waning for a long time and her pictures are sadly repetitive.
I used to rue that I didn't have sufficient time to read the papers because my son either rips them apart or keeps me occupied enough so that I don't get the opportunity to read them. But today, while he was being babysat by my mother, I relaxed with the entire paper and couldn't put it down fast enough!
Why don't we have a
National Enquirer in India? Most papers seem to follow that particular pattern of news reportage enough. Atleast N.E was unashamedly all about the dirt! They didn't masquerade as serious newsmakers and reporters and bring news of a porn stars ectopic pregnancies being terminated. I mean seriously...where is the value add?
So I did the only think left for me to do...went back to the funnies. Garfield does not act like an intellectual and neither does he like to be thought of as one, I wish more national dailies took a leaf out of his book.
