Lind, from what I gather, is what remains of Gazelle and her personality (and was at least somewhat aware when Kaito got Akito, since I'm pretty sure that was who Aki was talking about when he said someone inside was telling him to talk).
And Akito is. Well. Kaito's son.

The aging up would have been why I'd imagine Kaito would have had Akito call him brother, since otherwise it would be amazingly wtf.
