We have an awesome view for the evening thunderstorms.
Starting with our fantastic covered porch, that looks out on the public library.

I really like the porch, and the hibiscus my parents bought us is the prettiest part of the porch garden so far, at least until our window boxes really start to take off. We have to do a little work on the ceiling fan out here, but that's fine - it's actually a little too hot here now to sit out on the porch as much as we'd like. Plus the insects here are really bloodthirsty birds in disguise.

So this is the living room that opens on to the porch, and the next is the dining room that opens on the living room. When you get 100+ heat and 200% humidity, airy and open is the name of the game. Also, fans. You can see some of our new furniture in here, which was my Grandma's wedding gift - Lots of bookshelves and a new TV stand.

The rest of my pretty pretty dining room looking on to the kitchen - I am so excited to have my first grownup fancy dinner in here, with all the new stuff in my equally new buffet. The mirror was.... fun. If you want to cement a new marriage, build furniture and hang crap together. Once you get through that, maintaining years of marital bliss will be no problem. Also: built in storage is the way to go.

My kitchen. Don't ask about the painting, I'm not sure myself. But I do like my very very big pantry and amazing gas stove - short of my parents' super shmancy stove, this is the nicest one I've cooked on. Also: new knives. I lurrrrve my knives. I wish 'they cut good' didn't sound quite so stupid. Because they do. Cut good.

And this is the left side of the house. My Very Pink Office was originally Nick's office, but a combination of old wires, lead paint restricting wireless signal and cable meant that we had to move his desktop into the guest bedroom. Which is fine by me, because it means we don't have to paint and I get to sit on the guest bed and watch him play violent video games after being a caring and compassionate doctor all day. In between the two is our entryway with the stairs up from the front of the house. So very glad we hired young strong men to move our furniture up said stairs.

And our bedroom. It heats up during the day, but it's worth it to have lots of morning sun in order to facillitate early AM wakeup calls. The bathrooms are their own quirky selves - the mirrors used to have a really intricate design with the beads, I just have to take off the remaining bits and retouch pain. The fish can stay, along with the (not pictured) enormous porcelain tub.
So that's the new place. It's cute, even with the hiccups that come with an old house. For the record: those stick-on battery operated lights and 6 outlet power strips plus two-to-three prong adapters are a must have for any pre 1950's home.
