One great thing about living in New York City is that it welcomes the effort you put into things and returns dividends. Yes, I was fired by that client a couple weeks back but I was immediately referred to another by an ex-coworker. We inked a contract and *bam* I'm back to having way too much work on my plate.
I currently have three clients and am technically supposed to be clocking in 45 hours a week (which is wayyyyy too much) but am actually coming in more like 38 hours a week. It's insanely hard to crack 35 billable hours as a freelancer because of all the overhead involved. 35 is about right.
Fortunately the clients' hours are maximums, not minimums.
I'm still singing, too, and making damn fine progress with it. I auditioned for a choir a couple weeks back and soundly had to decide that I would be wasting my time with them. It was rather shocking because I realized just how much progress I have made. My teacher, Christina, is brilliant. We get along smashingly. So I continue to work and improve on my own in prep for auditioning for the semi-pro group I auditioned for six months ago.
Here are the pieces I'm currently working on:

I love that Bass/Baritone. And the
soprano is really excellent/hot, too. This whole Rossini concert is great if you want to watch it.

I'm really especially loving the Rossini and Mendelssohn.
The sound isolation booth we had built in the apartment is allowing me more flexibility with singing. I am generally getting enough practice in despite a busy work schedule. I've gotten my range up to a B1-C4 on a good day, although past G3 it's a little squeezy. It's exciting, though! Tone is getting very good. Breath support is improving. My main area for improvement is now in sight reading and in recognizing/reproducing intervals.
The weather has just turned and I've been doing most of my work outside on the backyard swing. In a couple of weeks we'll be taking a trip to Vermont and then continuing to Toronto where Sheryl is taking some bra-making classes. It'll be nice to get on the road for a bit.
