1o1: Laugh, always

Sep 02, 2010 23:40

I'm sorry I haven't been commenting much or updating at all. My first week of classes has been unbelievably busy. Even though today I didn't have any classes at all, I was out of my room from 9:30 AM until 11:00 PM. Crazy, right? Today was CUB's first comedy show of the year, and also it was the first day of me working in the college's Art Gallery. We're currently installing the first exhibit of the semester, and I feel like I'm learning a lot. So I had to be at the art gallery at 10 until 5, then ran right over to the theater to help out with hospitality and making sure the artists were alright, but little did I know that they were all EXTEMELY late. The opener didn't get here until 7:55. We had a scheduled start time of 8:00. COOL, RIGHT? it's not.

So I leave you with this little tidbit conversation that happened over facebook:
Fellow Cubbie: If I was given 10,000 laughs I would be able to identify yours... I did it among those in Kendall (((the theater with the comedy show)))... I am confident in this.
Me: I would like to point your attention to my little blurb below my profile picture. (((Which says, "I laughed. And I have one of these very loud, stupid laughs. I mean if I ever sat behind myself in a movie or something, I'd probably lean over and tell myself to please shut up.")))
FC: But when I laugh at jokes I am laughing because I hear you laugh, it is okay to laugh if Jane laughs..
Me: ^truth.

So I'm not seeing most of my old friends as much as I wish I could. And I think it's because they never considered us actually "friends." It makes me think of a The Matches song that goes: "'friends' in quotes, they're not calling." Cause, you know. I just put friends in quotes, and they haven't been calling. But conversations with new friends like that little wall chat with my fellow cubbie makes me confident that I really really can make new friends. So what if I'm weird. They should love me for that.
