This is the same that was on my facebook but there is just to much to write twice!
I will sometimes wake up and still can't believe i'm actually in Australia. I wake up in a new home, with a new family, and just can't believe it. I love it here. i don't even know where to begin.
the flight over was really long but i watched a few movies and slept. I was in the middle of the middle. there were three rows with three seats in each row. well i was in the middle row in the middle seat. that was not so much fun. but i made it. The second flight seemed like it was taking forever because we all just wanted to be there. once we landed it was like i was in the US still but everyone was doing things differently. driving on the other side of the road, speaking funny, it was just amazing. driving the first time on the bus was so cool. our bus driver was crazy and the whole other side of the road thing. we got to the school and it was really small. like half a bolck, maybe. we got a tour and did some intro things. then later our house parents came. rachel and i just happened to be walking to the bathroom when our came so we met the mom and sister, who seemed super cute, then the dad came later when we came back out. we were so tired when we got back to the house. we pretty much just ate dinner, they family left because they were taking their daughter to a show, i showered and unpacked and went to bed. we tried to stay up untill 9 but it didnt happen.
the next day I woke up super early and was freazing cold because they dont have enternal heat there, and our host dad drove us to school. he took us the way the bus would go and told us where to catch the one home. that day was filled with orentation stuff. we sat in a class room for a long time. with morning and afternoon tea breaks. those are cool. we just had some fruit and cheese and crackers, and of course tea or coffee and talked. it was lovely. after that was over we caught a bus home and ate dinner with our family and watched some australin tv. one show was called neighbors, it was all drama, a bit like the oc. it was funny. that night we ended up staying up untill 10:30 which was so amazing.
the next morning was saturday and our brother had a rugby game that day. so before it rachel and i went walking to the westfield shopping center, a local mall, to look for coats because we didnt bring any and its cold! we were only there for like a second and we found people who were living in a house nearby so we did some shopping with them. then we went to the rugby game. it was really fun to watch and actually have someone to cheer for, even though i didnt always know what i was cheering for! after the game our family took us back to the mall to do some more shopping and we finaly got coats. then we walked back to the house with one of our sisters laura, and had dinner and watched step up.
on sunday we had tickets to go to the world youth day closing mass so we went to the race track where it was, and that seemed like the longest walk ever. it was only 4.7K but still it seemed long. when we got there we were trying to find our section but got lost then came back around but the road was blocked because the pope was coming around. yes thats right pope benidect the 16th was in town. i saw him with my own eyes about 10 feet away. i got a picture too but because i dont have internet at my house it wont be posted for a bit. then we left mass early and went into cicular key which has the bridge and the opra house so we saw all of that wich was amazing. (pictures to come) then took the fary to luna park and darling harbor, pictures to come, and then a train home. these bus passes they gave us are good for all of those so i didnt pay a cent all day! it was so great. i dont think the day could have gotten better. we even had pizza last night from dominos. it was small and different but it was still good.
today is a meeting with some people and then relaxing. but who knows how things will turn out...
its is after all Australia!
