[Abeni remembered pain; a distinct sharp, burning sting in her abdomen from where the blade had driven in again and again. She remembered the fight, the way she and Zachariah had been ambushed, separated and how she had carried on while he fought his way back to her ( Read more... )

[Well hey, Abeni. Meet Kloe, who is just walking down the hallway minding her business.

Until she spots the upset-looking lady covered in blood. Kloe stops quickly.]

Are you injured?

[She'd approached another person previously who looked injured and apparently wasn't, so she's not getting any closer than she has to.]

[She'd heard Kloe approach before she'd seen her, but without a decent place to hide and watch, staying in the open had been the only choice.]

I'm fine.

[And the gun was still in her hand.]

Who are you?

[Oh, Kloe can see that gun all right. Great.]

Doctor Kloe Bishop. Who are you?

[So now Deadworld was bringing Doctors into the mix. This only added to Abeni's confusion.]

That's not important. Where's the exit? I want out.

[What a polite individual.]

The exit is on the first floor, you're on the fourth. The Keep is walled in, but there are gates right outside the barracks. If you want to leave the area, I don't think you'll get very far. There's nothing but wasteland and forest as far as I can tell. This place doesn't even have a damn sun.

[Though she doubts anyone really cares about that last part except her.]

[She has her reasons for acting as she does, none of which Abeni is in the mood to explain.]

Good enough for me.

[Now if you don't mind, Kloe, Abeni will be on her way. She starts and... pauses, giving Kloe a confused look.]

What do you mean, 'no sun'?

[Surprise! She cares.]

[Oh jeez, imagine that.]

In the sky. There's no sun. There should be one, but there isn't. Someone gave me some bullshit explanation about how it blew up.

[Which she refuses to believe.]

[Abeni arches her eyebrows.]

This is a psyche ward, isn't it.

[Stare.]

No. It isn't. Look out a window and see for yourself.

[Everything about this has been crazy. Who's to say it isn't?]

Maybe later. Anyone ever tell you how bat shit it sounds when you tell them the sun is gone?

[For all she knows the Game could still be happening and this could be a plot to get her guard down. Kloe could be armed or someone else might be waiting for the right moment to strike. Forgive the lack of trust, Abeni has been through a lot this past few years.]

[Kloe wouldn't blame her at all.]

Oh, I know it sounds bat shit. But the thing is, when I asked, no one seemed concerned. Now that's bat shit.

[So there were others here. Interesting.]

How many others are there? How long have you been here?

abstinentzombie August 21 2011, 04:38:25 UTC
Fuck if I know. A lot. Less than a hundred, at the most. And I've only been here two weeks, tops.

There's generally seventy or so to a game.

[She can't help but wonder if Kloe is a new player. It doesn't cross her mind that this is not Deadworld. Abeni's known nothing but it for almost three years.]

This is fucked up.

Of course this is fucked up. It's not every day you wake up to find yourself some place that makes no damn sense and learn your home has been "unmade" or whatever fucking word they used.

[But Kloe doesn't care about that. No really.]

Oh, and by the way, what "game" are you talking about?

[Abeni just looked at Kloe like she'd grown a second head.]

Living in denial, are we? Real smooth.
