With a shaky exhale and a small nibble at her bottom lip, Phoenix lifted up her bag from the silver sidewalk and began her short walk to her new home, Fortes Et Liber. She discovered this little place when she found some flyer on the ground on the busy streets of New York. Since the young child never met anyone who was like her, she decided to take a risk and go for it even the voices in her head told her that she will be rejected there, be unloved and harmed.
Numbing the voices and images with her medication, Phoenix slid on her ratty leather jacket and her beat up combat boots before making her way to her beautiful new home. When she arrived, she was in awe of the beautiful building. Her eyes shifted nervously around the yard, wondering if anyone was outside, gripping her small black backpack in her hand.
You are making a mistake. They won't save you. The flyer was a lie.
Phoenix winced, her medication wearing off as the voices came back. She gripped her head with a free hand and gritted her teeth as she tried to shut them out but the only got louder, calling to her and hurting her. Letting out a gasp, she dropped her bag and gripped her head with both hands at the gates of the of her new home.
You're worthless to them, you won't be safe here. THEY WILL HURT YOU!
"Shut up!" Phoenix suddenly cried out loud, squeezing her eyes shut as she tried to remain standing while gripping her head and trying her damnest to numb the horrible voices and the images of red eyed men and women with knives, looking at her with looks of bloodlust.
