These are trending philosophical.
"This! This is something I did! Look at it!" the man shouted to the callous cosmos. And the cry echoed down through the millennia, wrapped itself around history, and into Humankind's very genes. The Universe has yet to acknowledge the African plains ape, screaming into the void. But the need still echoes up from our twists of DNA, crying to leave some mark behind. In the form of children, or a giant statue spouting fire. Something to say "I was here. I mattered. Remember me."
Perhaps one day the Universe will notice. Or perhaps not. But the shout echoes still.
