Oh god talk about the week from hell. Whatever I did ended up biting me in the ass or otherwise mocking the fuck out of me. I am literally looking forward to Monday as that afternoon will be the first real break I'll have had in just over a week. The best day I had this week was Wednesday, when I got to go to a friend's mother's funeral and hang out with my mom. No joke; that was actually a great day. Anything else was not worth talking about.
The very, very little time I've had this week to fic has been devoted to longer ones I could kind of wrap myself up in and put back down five minutes later. Like a big fucking blankie.
That, and I watch
Archer until I pass out. No, really. I love that fucking show.

All The Rules To Break, by
foxxcub (lj)
Fandom: Inception
Pairing: Arthur/Eames
A notorious serial killer returns after a three-year hiatus, reminding Detective Arthur Moss of the infamous case he couldn't close. But when the FBI becomes involved, Arthur is forced to work side-by-side once again with Special Agent Daniel Eames, a man who knows Arthur better than Arthur himself will ever admit. Both men must confront their past and heal old wounds in order to bring a psychopath to justice.
H/c, people, so much h/c here. I am not in the slightest ashamed that my number one kink is a good cop!AU. Hell, I'll even read a bad or mediocre cop!AU, though there are far fewer of those out there than you'd think. At any rate, this fic is one of the few gorgeously fleshed-out stories where I can almost smell the shitty coffee brewing and see the metal desks dented by careless feet scattered around the bullpen that's always a few degrees too cold for comfort. And if I'm doing a terrible job of selling it...Eames and Arthur will have gorgeous, glorious tension in spades. And then they will ::cough:: not. So. You know. Get on over there and read.

Best Practices in Workplace Relationships, by blackeyedgirl (ao3)
Fandom: The Social Network
Pairing: Mark/Eduardo
“Seriously, hire as many female programmers as you like. But if I have to get used to another assistant because Sean keeps-.”
“What?”
“Because Sean keeps fucking them - or attempting to fuck them, whatever, and it’s not like I haven’t tried to intervene, but I can’t fire him and while I can keep him away from the programmers and the interns I can’t keep him out of the office entirely. If I lose another assistant because he keeps breaking their hearts it’s going to delay the update to application support by months.”
There is a long, loaded pause.
Cheryl says, “I absolutely cannot help you hire a man rather than a woman because you are incapable of preventing Mr Parker from committing sexual harassment.” Cheryl reads his expression and sighs. “But I do have a candidate. Who happens to be male, although if anyone asks if that was a criteria we used, I will deny it to my grave.”
Mark nods quickly, and lets her slide a form over the desk. Saverin, comma, Eduardo doesn’t seem to have any particular reason to want to be Mark’s secretary. Then, Mark is never sure why anyone wants to be his secretary. He says, “Bring him in for interview.”
Seriously, on Friday I wasn't even in this fucking fandom. In fact, I was pretty damn sure I'd never even see the movie. I still haven't seen the movie, but apparently that doesn't mean a damn thing since now I'm following something like 6 WIPs and ctrl-t-ing like a fiend.
This is another contender for the How Much Can We Hurt You And Not Make You Run Away Screaming For The Cops Before We Comfort You Awards™. There are ~feeelings~! and obliviousness! And then lots and lots of ::cough:: not! And normally secretary fics make me incredibly uncomfortable with the imbalance of power and implied traditional stereotypes - something fandom can't quite seem to stay away from, even when writing a relationship between two people of the same sex - but blackeyedgirl has a pretty good track record of writing people and not stereotypes, so I gave it a shot. This was my first venture into TSN fandom, with
harriet_vane pimping out pictures of Jesse Eisenberg and Andrew Garfield in the background and it made my life so. much. better. I'm in the process of rereading it for a third time, which. What, even.

How To Keep Your Mouth Shut, by primetime (ao3)
Fandom: Hawaii 5-0 (2010)
Pairing: Steve/Danny
Danny’s sometimes gay. Gay, sometimes. Does dudes. He doesn’t know how to say it right. He doesn’t know how to say it at all.
And Steve doesn't quite know what to do with that. But, then again, Danny doesn't always, either.
There's a healthy dose of obliviousness here, too, along with an appropriately dramatic climax. (No, not that kind, you perv. Well. Hmm. Shit.) Basically, it's what had damn well better happen for March sweeps or the season finale - I'm not picky. Either will do.
