I very rarely rec straight-up posts, but I think this is gorgeous, and well-worth puzzling through any unfamiliar lingo. Posts like this are why I stick around fandom even when I'm piled up to my nose with work and children's bodies are stacked around me like cordwood. (Because they're exhausted from the work I've given them. I probably didn't kill them. Probably.)
Fandom gets a lot of rants, a lot of squee, and a lot of love, but step-by-step stories of fandom are kinda rare. I love this one.
