Everything Wrong Is Right Again

Today has been one of those days of suck, where every single thing that happens seems designed to just add to the suck, from the cat uncharacteristically waking me up over an hour before I had to be up, to the cable pixellating and freezing as I was trying to watch TV tonight (probably a sign of renewed Nuclear Mutant Squirrel damage...bah). I don't know what's caused it all, but it's left me tense enough that I can't even get to sleep. But everything went away a few minutes ago as I was listening to the Current and they played these two songs back to back, with no break in between:

The Roots - Game Theory (featuring Malik B.)   [This would be what is known as "rap"]

Pert Near Sandstone - Down In The Holler   [This would be what is known as "bluegrass"]

The ludicrousness of the shift in style just made me completely crack up.  And then I looked at Pert Near Sandstone's album on Amazon and discovered that the song after "Down In The Holler" is called..."The Story of You, Me & Your Mama."  Which honestly sounds like it could be the title of a rather disturbing slashfic, probably involving at least one member of the Petrelli family.  The pedestrian character choice would probably involve Peter and Sylar (hey, I think Angela could teach our favorite sociopath a thing or two).  But an ambitious fic writer might try something more adventurous like, say, Claire, Sandra Bennet and...Eden?  (I'm just trying to throw a bone to the fanboys at TWoP who complain about women and their Mylar hogging all the hoyay.)  Frankly, though I don't normally get into that sort of thing, it makes me want to start a fic challenge where everyone just takes that title as their starting point and goes with the flow.  Hey, it could be an AU gen fic about Mr. Muggles getting lost before being rescued by Niki and Micah and then settling down to live happily ever after in a trailer park!  It doesn't HAVE to be about HRG, D.L. and--

That's when I realized with glee that I had come up with a concept with the potential to disturb even more people than that paragraph that someone once described as "Sylar bangs his way through the entire Suresh family".  And now, I can finally go to bed happy and relaxed.

tv: heroes, fandom, this will be used at my sanity hearing
