Rules for Nominating

1) All fics nominated MUST be available for viewing at a website, a fanfic archive or in an unlocked livejournal post. Fics should be easily accessible and not require any special registration to view, joining a community or having to friend a journal in order to view.

2) Please only nominate fics written, or updated, within the past FIVE years. Any fics written before 2003 or not updated since 2003 will NOT be accepted for nomination. Reposting does NOT quallifty as updating, updating requires an addition to the fic or a significant amount of change to the piece. Pieces written during the nomination period may be included.

3) Only ONE character may be nominated per story for the Best Characterization category.

4) You MAY nominate yourself or someone else.

5) You MAY nominate a story in more than one category.

6) An author may be nominated NO more than 3 times in any one category. If further nominations are made, the author may select three of the nominated pieces they best feel represent their work.

7) If one pairing begins to overpower a category or a fandom we reserve the right to create a new category for that pairing.

8) All nominations MUST include a working link to the fic being nominated, the author's email address as well as your name and your email address. Nominations will NOT be accepted without these.

9) The Secret phrase needed for your nominations to be accepted is, "I love cheesy poofs" This has been added to ensure people have read the rules.

10) Fics that have multiple parts, must have some way that the entire fic may be easily found. A post somewhere with links to all the sections, a title specific fic tag, a link from the first section to the next to the next, be in chapters at FF, etc. This is so that voters and judges may easily find and read fics in their entirity.

11) WIP fics MAY be nominated IF they are a minimum of 5000 words or longer. This is in the interest of fairness in terms of having a sufficient amount of the fic to judge and being fair to other works that are complete.

12) Judges & Moderators MAY be nominated but will NOT be allowed to judge any categories in which they are nominated - NO exceptions.

13) Any fic which has excessive grammatical and technical errors (spelling, verb tense, etc) WILL NOT be accepted. Fics should be properly betaed and relatively devoid of error.

14) A fic which won in a category may not be nominated in that category again, with the following one time exception for ROUND 2 ONLY - If it was a tie, the fic may be nominated again because we've changed the voting and judging to minimize the occurence of this which happened a fair amount in a couple of fandoms. Also, Moderator Awards are selected by Mods as opposed to nominated, so any fic or author who won a Mod Award in a previous round may still be nominated.

15) Moderator Awards are given at the discretion of the Moderators. Each award given is agree on by two or more Mods. Some fandoms have more and some less depending on the quantity of fic in the fandom and the number of awards given in the fandom.
