Sentimentality
Is it silly to feel sentimental about an alarm clock?
The alarm clock that I've had since high school has moved with me everywhere I've ever lived. It is the only thing that I own now that I owned then. It has done a wonderful job of making sure that I was awake for about 15 years, but now it has suddenly developed a problem: when the switch is set to the 'off' position the radio plays. It's only mildly inconvenient right now because it is still silent as it should be when the switch is in the 'radio alarm' position, but I fear that this heralds the beginning of the end for one of my most trusted and most well used possession.
I will be sad when I finally have to replace it.
