My Ryoma keychain is gone.

It's sad. He was hanging right next to my Tezuka keychain and it made me happy to look at them and think that they were together, that there was probably a reason they ended up hanging face to face. They were both adorable and chibi-y and Ryoma was smirking like the little arrogant brat that he is.

But now he's gone. And I doubt I will ever see him again.

I might be able to hold back the tears though, if I think that maybe now, someone else will find him. They'll walk along and see something on the ground catching in the sun, and they will bend down to see what it is. They'll pick it up and pocket it, and later wonder who this Ryoma Echizen is, and why someone would buy a keychain with him on it. They'll treasure it, even though they are not a Prince of Tennis fan.

And maybe eventually their curiosity will get the better of them. They'll decide that they want to know who it is, where he's from, why he's worth the money someone spent on that keychain. They'll google him and read about how he's the Prince of Tennis, and how he joins Seigaku and falls in love with the captain of the team. They'll watch the anime, they'll read the manga, they won't stop laughing for days when they discover the musicals. They'll be annoyed, like I was, that on the keychain it says Ryoma Echizen, and that's not right. It's Echizen Ryoma, don't get it wrong.

(They were skeptical at first, of course. They don't have time to watch 178+ episodes, when they have school or work or whatever takes up their time every day. And they've never liked tennis much, or sports, for that matter, but eventually the crack and the gay pulled them in.)

And maybe then, when there is no turning back for this person, Ryoma will move on. He'll leave to find a new victim, someone else he can convince to watch this show. And it never ends, new fans will be made every week. He's a busy boy, Ryoma.

I think my Tezuka keychain is trying to join him. Maybe he misses him? I will buy a new Ryoma keychain though, and when I get home today, I will grab the nearest screwdriver and make sure that neither of them are going anywhere. Think of your current fans, not just the future ones. You don't want me to leave the fandom just because you wanted to help your boyfriend with his Mission, do you, Tezuka? Though it is an important mission, I admit.

Good luck, Ryoma. I hope whoever you find and convert will be able to see the eternal love between you and your buchou. I hope they, too, will be happy, just thinking about you playing tennis together, forever, until you are so exhausted that you collapse; and kissing passionately while you lay there on the ground, sharing ponta and tea until it's time to play tennis again.
