One of the Old Gods corrupted by the Taint. Something has to lead these creatures, doesn't it? Something that unites them, directs them into being something other than mindless monsters.

Eh? Old Gods? Ain't no such thing as gods.

Well, they're not really gods. At least, I don't think they're gods. They're dragons. High dragons, very old and very mortal.

Dragons, eh? Need help killing that there Archdemon, you just give me a holler.

[Voice]

As if I could do it without you. I can't, you know. Do it without you. It's a two person job, killing archdemons.

It is? What's involved?

[Voice]

Oh, you know, the usual. Swords, arrows, a bit of magic, maybe some fancy acrobatics. There can't be dragon-slaying without the fancy acrobatics. Death-defying leaps. A few daring feints. All very heroic. And capes. There must be capes to blow dramatically in the wind. Oh, and the shiny armor! You can't forget about that.

Never actually fought before, have you?

Of course I have! Walking corpses, darkspawn, bandits, werewolves, wild animals, Blood Mages, psychotic dwarves, golems, an archdemon. I am a Grey Warden.

Fighting ain't dramatic. Mostly, it's dull and over right quick. One way or another.

Well, no. But it sounds better in stories if you tell it that way. Otherwise you're just detailing the blood and gore and the screams. No one wants to hear about that.

True enough. Least ways, no one you want to talk to. Tell you what, eh? After we fight this here archdemon of yours, we'll magic up the tale, right? Make it grand and gleaming like that fancy armor of yours used to be.

Wonderful! We may have to throw in a few more witches. Maybe a Blood Mage or two. And an army. There's nothing more riveting than hearing about how two warriors routed an army and killed a dragon all by themselves.

Guess I'd better go shine the armor, then. Wouldn't want anyone to see us on the way and know that we're... ah, embellishing the tale.
