Nightmare

So, last night DH comes home from work seriously unhappy.  His union contract is up April 1st, and unlike previous years, there has been no early settlement, or even early talks.  The only word from the company is that it wants the right to have layoffs regardless of seniority.  DH is 4 years from (non) early retirement.  (he had applied for early ( Read more... )

OK. Yeah, I do. It's completely unfair that they wouldn't accept his application for early retirement. He's probably worked there for ages and he deserves to get his pension, etc. It seems to me they're using this as an excuse to discriminate against him because he's older. And it's just cr*p.

It just sucks. The early retirement package is at the discretion of your managers. So his managers think that he is too valuable to let go. But who knows what the people in the upstairs offices know or think?
