Alright. Because I've been pondering doing this for a while:

What happens now?
(Does it count as a meme if you haven't stolen it from someone else?)

I was looking at my fics (specifically, For Better or For Worse and take the bitter, leave the sweet) and wondering, "Wait, so what happens now that Panic's broken up? Does that happen in the ( Read more... )

I really love the idea of this meme. There are two stories I want to know how the split affected them, Time and Time Again (and Again, and Again) and The Trials and Tribulations of a Lack of Education.

Time and Time Again (and Again, and Again)The thing about this is that Righon, Spenser and Yehonatan didn't die when Breanainn did, when Pan offered them that second chance. Righon and Spenser died a few years afterwards, in a massive argument that ended in a huge explosion. Yehonatan only barely survived, and he spent a few months lamenting his inability to calm Righon and Spenser, before he died in a half-mad haze ( ... )

I would love it if you wrote both of these. (Accidental telepathy? I vote yes.)

Jon & Bren though? So much love. I love how in both of these the divorce leads to a different kind of happy ending.

It's very difficult for me to write something without a happy ending. Besides, I already knew the "what now" for the Love Song set (below) would be painful enough that I would want something happier to balance it out.

Plus, Jon and Bren are kind of incapable of being anything but adorable. It's just the truth. They're That Couple.

Oh, man, you just had to pick the tough one, didn't you? This one is painful because Ryan and Brendon in this verse are so wrapped up in the music, in being each other's words and voice, that when they aren't any longer, when Brendon starts writing his own stuff and Ryan decides that he doesn't need anyone else to sing his words for him, it's... rough. This starts maybe six months or so before the official split. And they say that the split has nothing to do with either of them, and that the split won't affect them, but everyone knows that's kind of a lie. Ryan and Spencer will be fine, and Brendon and Jon will be fine, and Spencer and Jon will be fine, but there are a whole lot of rocks between Ryan and Brendon.

I need to come back to this later, first because it's a wee bit painful and second because I'm getting kicked off of the computer.

I knooooow. I'm trying to figure out if they actually have a happy ending. They don't have an unhappy ending, if that helps. But it takes them a while to sort of... feel their way back to being friends without the music. Then they just have to figure out where to go from there - if they want to try to date again, or what. They write a bunch of songs about each other in the meantime.

I will come back to the others! (Time and Time Again has been addressed above, never fear.) For now, Take the Bitter, Leave the Sweet (with the divorce, but not Shane moving in with Regan, which absolutely never happens in this verse ( ... )

I know! That one hurts. There was no way to write it so that it didn't; so much of Take the Bitter involves Brendon leaning so heavily on his band and Shane. They're the family that he's so sure will never leave him that when the band splits, it's... devastating.

If it helps, though, I think the other two are happier. Not as happy as Time and Time Again, or Trials and Tribulations, but still happier.
