One theme in this week's class was commas. I always thought I did pretty well with commas, but much of what was taught seemed foreign to me. One observation: much of it is foreign to me. Certain things made more sense when I pause to think how it's done in Dutch; others make even less sense. And everything I've learned about phrases and clauses in Dutch, though it may apply in English, is also foreign because of its non-Dutch names. I was literally writing down notes in Dutch to make some sense of it all.
I'm digressing wildly. Commas! Without repeating everything I've learned last week, I will just summarize that I am making a much greater effort to commatize correctly. I hope I did well in this post!
Sidenote: once thing that's frustrating is that I ace every quiz I can find online, but when I write, or read my own writing, I get completely flustered.
Flustered!
