Boy!
Ansel Godfrey Marinus de Jong
was born on the sixth of September, 2007. Ansel is a little Dutch peanut: 20" and 6 lbs 9 oz. He looks amazingly like his father, which is a little disturbing on its own, but what's even more alarming is that he also acts like his father. Case in point: Julie's labor developed from nothing to fully dilated in five hours. That's excellent mothering. Her job, at that point, was essentially done. It was then that Ansel decided, like his father, to find the most complicated and difficult way out of the womb. So difficult, in fact, that there proved to be no way out.
After many difficult decisions, Julie received delivery by Caesarean birth at 12:21 PM.
Let me state that this outcome was in no way because of anything Julie did. She was an awesome mother, and after witnessing her going so bravely and strongly through these imcomprehensibly difficult labor pains with no help other than the limp hand of my dumbfounded self, I have come to one conclusion: women rule the world.
But Ansel de Jong isn't a woman. So it's going to be an interesting life for him all around.
