13th Proclamation: [Action]

Jan 27, 2010 22:49

[Sitting on a bench close to the middle of town is Neliel.  Strangely, her sword, which she usually keeps down at her side, mostly out of sight, is leaning on her shoulder and one knee is up on the bench propping it up.

As people walk past her, she gives them measured glances.  It seems as though she's looking for something...

But what?]

[Her future in acting set (in her mind, at least), Erza decided to wander around and see what was going on around town. By this point, she had gotten a good portion of her armour back from the stores around town, which she was glad about, and she was currently wearing her usual suit of armour. Although she didn't mind the dress she was wearing when she arrived here, she was much more comfortable wearing armour than anything else.

Noticing the arrancar on the bench, she glared at Nel, suspicious. She remembered Adell mentioning that some demons from his world were here, and wondered if this woman was one of them. The goat-like skull on her head certainly helped to build upon these suspicions.]

[The armor would have been enough to attract Nel's attention, but being glared at like that is just too much to ignore.]

Do you desire to taste my blade?

[Well, that was probably one of the stranger expressions she's heard since she arrived here! Then again, she's only been here a few days, which isn't very long at all.]

What do you mean? Are you challenging me to a fight?

You're a warrior, aren't you? You should be prepared for such things.

[One of Erza's many swords appears in her hands. It's a medieval-style sword, small enough that she only needs one hand to wield it.]

I always am. Judging by the look on your face and the sound of your voice, I figure you aren't going to take "no" for an answer.

[Nel stands, sword leaving it's sheath as she moves into a battle position.]

You're allowed to withdraw if you so desire. I've no intent of taking your life. But why hold back?

[Erza smiles slightly as she grips her sword. Still under the impression that Nel is some kind of demon, she responds.]

The fact that you aren't fighting to kill is good to hear, but I've heard about how powerful your kind can be and I'd like to see if what I heard wasn't just exaggeration. Don't worry, though, I won't try to kill you either. I've also heard that some members of your kind are capable of compassion, and I'd like to see if that's true as well.

"My kind"? You're familiar with Arrancar?

[She slips into a ready position, intrigued by this thought. The woman doesn't look like a Shinigami...]

[This statement confused Erza, seeing as she had not heard of Arrancar before.]

"Arrancar"? Aren't you a demon?

I'm not familiar with any demons. You humans would consider us more like... unquiet spirits.

In that case, I was mistaken. I had been told that there were demons here, and I assumed you were one based on your aggressive nature and that goat skull on your head. It probably won't be the first time I'm mistaken over that sort of thing, I suppose. My apologies.

So you're a ghost, then?

More or less. The mask is the sign of a hollow, a ghost who has lost their sense of reasoning and become nothing but pure instinct. That it's broken signifies that I've regained control of myself.

[Erza's sword disappears; seeing as she doesn't really have any reason to fight this woman, there's no need for her to have it.]

I haven't heard of these... hollows, did you call them? Anyway, I haven't heard of them before. What world are you from?

[Her own sword lowers. Even with the effects of the experiment, her urge to fight is lower than her urge to explain what she is.]

They seem to only be on my own world... I come from Hueco Mundo, but most Hollows are originally from what's called Earth.

I see... Earth, huh? My world is called Earthland. Kind of odd that there would be two planets with almost exactly the same name.

So are there a lot of Hollows like you, that don't just act on instinct? Or are you a rarity among your kind?

The universe is an odd place.

We're outnumbered, by far, but more of us are appearing these days.
