night one... of many many
Single best invention in the history of the world: The Book. There is a certain charm that only a book has. I've been dying to go back to Barnes and Noble.. I dislike the idea of buying a book I'm going to read once (for those of you who can read books over and over... Hats off.. I can't fucking do it) But I do REALLY love looking at all the stories there are to be told. It reminds me how little of this gigantic world I'm actually aware. Humbling, enlightenting, touching, confronting, inspiring, exciting, frighting, arousing... Books. The single best invention in the history of the world.
Tonight is my first night in my new apartment. There is an eerie, perhaps perfect, mixture of excitment and fear followed by an ebb and flow of inspiration and re-remembering how far i've come and how fast i've done it.
Camille is in The Dalles, staying the night with my mom. Mom rented me a U-haul today and we spent the day loading it, (Thanks mom, you took a huge weight off our shoulders. I really appreciate your generosity.) So mom didn't want Cami sleeping in a gutted apartment. Her job will be over in a couple of weeks (the 24th) and then she'll join me here. I really look forward to the solidtude in the mean time, however. I've just been having a nice time getting to know myself.
There are a few things I need to take care of as far as apartment maintence, (certain little details like an outlet that doesn't work, etc...) In addition to address and utility changes, but other than that, I seem to be settled in with at least basic necessities (except for my toothbrush,, which has vanished magically).
I keep thinking to myself that I'll run to the store for this or that but I really don't know where I am. haha... God bless the GPS that Dave was kind enough to let me borrow. It's an amazing tool. Someday I'll have one of my own.
I must go to bed now, I just wanted to record something from this first night, but I don't seem to be having much to say. I did a load of laundry, I danced inside when I didn't have to insert coins to make the water start. And having a second bedroom is a blessing as well. I really look forward to how this apartment will be when it's all put together.
