Memory 003: (Backdated to after the Thanksgiving nuclear event)

Dec 12, 2011 17:55

(When Tara woke up after her first death, her initial reaction was to throw her quilt covers off and gasp for air. Dying from radiation poisoning is horrible, and the slow death had definitely hit her hard. Things get even more confusing for her when she notices that she's back in her bed, totally healthy and alive. She scrambles for the curtains; ( Read more... )

[Here's Yuna, trudging along looking similarly glum and also holding a picture in her hands. As she passes by Tara, she notices the other girl's expression and stops.]

Hey. Town send you back a depressing picture too?

Hey.

(She nods at Yuna's question.)

Yeah. I mean, it's not a bad picture, it's just...it's a picture of my dad, and I miss him a lot.

[Yuna nods sympathetically.]

Yeah, I know what you mean. I guess the town decided it wasn't making the holidays depressing enough, huh?

Yeah...

You got a picture like that too?

Yup, sure did.

[Another nod as Yuna hands the picture over for Tara to take a look. It's a picture of her as a little girl, smiling and laughing with her parents.]

I mean, it was bad enough reminding me about dad, but...

[She probably doesn't really need to actually say the rest of that. It's from when her mom was still alive.]

(Tara looks at it, and she understands. She knows your pain Yuna.)

Your parents look like really nice people.

(She shows Yuna her picture as well. It's one of her dad and her, taken at the carnival.)

I just got out of hospital when this picture was taken; I was in a coma for four months. Dad thought that I needed some cheering up, so he took me to the carnival. He knows I love carnivals.

Man, I ate so much cotton candy and pie I nearly got sick again.

Yeah, they're the best.

[Picture exchange! Yuna laughs a little at the story, smiling at the picture.]

You guys look really happy together. I bet your dad's a pretty great guy.

Yeah, he is. He's a really serious guy most of the time, and it's really hard to get him to smile, or laugh. But he really does care about me, and he's always there for me when I need help.

(She pauses, feeling another wave of homesickness hit her.)

I'm sorry, I never introduced myself. I'm Tara.

Haha, my dad's like the total opposite! He's really goofy, and can't do anything right without me there. But he's always been there for me too, and I really love him a lot.

[She gives a bit of a wistful smile.]

Nice to meet you, Tara. I'm Yuna.

Nice to meet you too, Yuna.

(She responds with a tentative smile of her own.)

I'd like to meet your dad, maybe he could teach mine to relax.

gonnamarrydaddy December 13 2011, 21:27:01 UTC
I bet he could. Dad's good at relaxing. He's so good at it that I have to do all the cooking and cleaning myself!

(That's not relaxing, that's being irresponsible.)

My Dad works at home, so he's usually the one who does the household chores. But sometimes we cook together; especially on Saturday. We tend to make a lot of mess when we're in the kitchen, so we need time to clean up.

(She chuckles.)

Dad's such a serious and strict person, that it's always funny to see him wearing that apron I got him for Father's Day. It's got, "Number 1 Dad" written over it, with a chef hat too.

Heh, if my dad tried to cook anything, he'd probably burn the apartment down. So it's probably better that I'm the one taking care of all that.

[She laughs a little.]

Wish I could see a picture of that! I can't even imagine it from how serious you keep saying he is. I bet he looks pretty silly in it.

(Tara laughs along with Yuna.)

I actually did take a picture of him in it once. Maybe the town will give that back to me, and I can show it to you some time.

Thanks for talking with me Yuna. I really needed this.

Hey, no problem! Daddy's girls gotta stick together, right?

Right.

(She smiles and nods.)

I guess I should start getting ready for school, huh? Don't want to get droned or anything for being late. I'll see you around then.
