IC:
Character name: Meiran Chang (formerly Long)
Fandom: Gundam Wing
Timeline: Her death in AC 194
Age: 14
~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths: She's the strongest martial artist in her clan (only bested by her husband after their marriage) and a trained mobile suit pilot.
How would they use their abilities?: She would use her fighting ability to seek out justice for the people on board the ship, and help defend them if attacked. And possibly to drag her husband out of whatever book he happens to be reading if the mun allows it.
Appearance: Meiran is of Chinese descent, and has shoulder length black hair that is usually kept in two short pigtails. She has very dark brown eyes. A bit on the short side (due to a mixture of her age and heritage), she favors dark colored clothes, usually wearing a wide strapped tank top and a Mandarin jacket over pants along with Kung Fu shoes.
Background/Personality: Meiran was born the heir to the Long clan of L5, granddaughter to Master Long. As her parents themselves are never mentioned, my head-canon has them already dead. As such, she was trained extensively in the martial arts despite the older fashioned social views expressed on her colony. Even as a young woman, she was proud and a little arrogant, priding herself as the strongest of her clan and going as far as to rename herself as Nataku, the guardian of their clan and a Chinese mythological figure often depicted as a warrior.
Since clan tradition dictated for heirs to be married at fourteen, Meiran was wed to Chang Wufei, a scholar in training pulled from boarding school, much to both of their displeasure. To put it simply, it was not a smooth marriage from the get go. Because Wufei was not a warrior and clearly had no interest in becoming one, Meiran declared him unworthy of leading her clan or being her husband. To add even more fuel to the fire, Wufei professed not to believe in justice, declaring it existing "only for one's convenience." Meiran believe wholeheartedly in justice, and waging battle in order to find and defend it. Their first argument over it turned into a fight that Meiran was shocked to lose. But even with her defeat, she refused to let go of her ideals and did not hesitate to leap into battle when OZ and the Alliance attacked their colony. I have her being trained by Master O as well in my head-canon because I can see little other sources for her to have learned to fly a mobile suit.
Despite the animosity between Meiran and Wufei, she leads the battle outside of the colony to avoid trampling the feild of flowers he'd held dear. She declares herself justice to the enemy and challenges them. Wufei interrupts the battle with Shenlong to order her to safety, and she obeys her husband for probably the first time. But when one of the OZ mobile suits tries to attack Wufei, she throws herself between them. Her suit is destroyed and she's fatally wounded. When Wufei reaches her, she requests that Wufei take her to his meadow. In her lasts moments she asks him if he thought her worthy of being his wife, a massive turnabout from before, and admits that he's stronger than she is.
Have you read up on how the game works?: I did indeed. The Guide plug-in is called FlamingFerret, and characters can earn money on the ship by doing missions, getting a job, or mooching off other people.
1st person sample:
[A Chinese teenager stares at the camera with her head held high, hands on her hips and not a trace of shyness or nervousness in her stance, though she can’t quite hide her confusion.]
I demand that someone tell me where I am and who brought me here! If you’ve done anything to my husband, I won’t be pleased.
[She crosses her arms and scowls, looking away from the camera to hide the fact that she’s worried.]
And if you’re here, Wufei, at least tell me where I can find you. Someone needs to make sure you don’t get your neck broken.
3rd person sample:
Meiran didn’t know how she’d ended up in this place. Hell, she didn’t know how she was alive up at all. She should have been dead from the wounds she’d suffered. It would have been a just and honorable death, so why had she been robbed of it?
The Long heir growled in irritation as she surveyed the few objects she’d been given. What use did she have for a towel when she didn’t even know where she was, much less where there was a shower. But angry as she was, she knew that should would at least need a base of operations if she were to figure anything out.
“’Don’t panic,’ what is this nonsense?” Meiran muttered. She was a driven woman, and she knew what she needed to do first, even if she would have to wing it from there. First step, find the room assigned her, and then find someone to confirm if what she’d been told about Earth’s destruction had any truth to it. The thought made Meiran pause briefly before shaking her head firmly. No. It was obviously a lie. Nothing could have happened to their world, not after she’d given her life to save their colony, and Wufei would never have allowed something like that to happen.
