Sari-Inspired Jewelry Progress

I thought I'd post some images of a piece I've been working on the last few days.  I'm working on various projects for the upcoming CONvergence here in the Twin Cities, and one of them is a brass wire-wrapped statement piece.  I've simplified my favorite motif from some sari material I recently picked up (for a corset).  Here's a photo of the material:

And here's a detail of the motif:

And finally, here's my piece:

The piece measures approximately 2 3/4" x 3".  Currently, I'm thinking of sewing the piece onto a backing of the brown material, or possibly another fabric.  I'm also considering embroidering, to add more detail and dimension.  I haven't decided if this will be a brooch/badge, barrette, or statement necklace, yet.

For those of you who are wire-workers, I'm sure you'll see lots of flaws and potential improvements (and I welcome comments and input, since I'm by no means an expert on this).  You might be interested to know that I made the entire piece aided only by wire-cutters, two sets of flat-nose pliers, a small crochet hook (for small loops), and a paintbrush (for larger curves/loops/leaves).

Thoughts?
