Episode synopsis by yours truly:
Earth, reveled to be invaded by sentient cats, throws Amy Wong into a situation of life and death after she presents the idea (for a doctoral exam) of a spherical generator that can provide unlimited energy directly from the Earth's rotation. Meanwhile, Nibbler reveals his ability to talk and converse after growing weary of Leela's constant affection. Amy and Nibbler team up after Planet express is taken over by sentient cats that want to use Amy's device for their own planet.

Review:

Futurama fans needed a whacky episode. The cat bit is tired and done; however, compared to Duh-Vinci Code, TDK was much better.

Futurama fans don’t exactly love Amy, but fans are happy that this episode readdressed her as the Professor's grad student (something that hasn't been addressed since Mars University). It also breaks her out of her Amy-and-Kif couple mode, and gives her more depth. Many wish the writers had given her a bit more physical comedy. It was once her prime talent.

This episode, interestingly enough, also addressed where Nibbler fits into this. The episode itself could have just as easily avoided talking about him or using him, so many Futurama fans give them (the writers) props for taking a stab at it. Only, many felt that his arc (wanting to be acknowledged, finding that he liked the attention, and reconciling) was really understated, and weakly done. TDK could have been a great Nibbler AND Amy episode. Nibbler seemed nonexistent in this one, and fit poorly with Amy. Amy is a funny, useful character, but Nibbler’s potential was wasted.

The overall cat theme was hard for many to swallow, while others ate it up. All fans cannot be appeased, it seems.

The depiction of current academia was spot on, though. This episode gets a few thumbs up for that.

Thankfully, TDK is not a bad episode, and yet, it is not a good one either. Give it a watch, even if you do not care for cats, or even Amy.
