Valentine's Day Bananas

I like this holiday. It's not my favorite, but I still like it.

I don't like it all that much when it is marketed up all over the place, but that tends to happen with every holiday, it's unavoidable: hallmark continues to take hold of the holidays.

Some amusing alternatives that I've heard to saying "Happy Valentine's Day" are:
"Happy Single Awareness Day" -Sarah's Roommates
"Happy February-Is-Finally-Half-Over Day" -Elisabeth

I've also seen some rather entertaining away messages:
"Griddle cakes, pancakes, hotcakes, flapjacks: why are there four names for grilled batter and only one word for love?" -Mike
"So many men, so little time. I want them all. Is that a crime?" -Paige
"...keep suckin' on those candy hearts...don't choke" -Tom
"The difference between a cow and a bean is a bean can begin an adventure!" -Lisa (ok, so I realize this one has nothing to do with V-day...but I thought it was funny)

What I do like about Valentine's Day is that it celebrates love. And it doesn't have to only be romantic love between couples...we can celebrate love between friends, love for family, and above all, love for God and from God. My Valentine's Day wish for everyone would be that they get to experience and witness and feel the love God has for them:

"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us." 1 John 4:7-12

And now for a little more humor...amongst the Valentine's I received today was a package of Necco Sweethearts containing delightful little messages that I found to be rather amusing:
"Smile"
"Sweet Talk"
"First Kiss"
"Hug Me"
"Marry Me"
"It's Love"
"Love Him"
"Call Me"
and now ... my favorites:
"#1 Fan"
"Dream Team"
"URA 10"
"Page Me"
"Wise Up"

I just ate "Page Me"...I think it was stale.

And a final word of wisdom brought to you by Jenn: Bananas taste good, banana candy tastes better, but banana bread tastes even better. Furthermore, banana is a fun word to say and spell.
