Well I'm not sure of my priorities//I've lost site of where I'm meant to be//And like holy water washing over me//You make it real for me ~James Morrison

Juliet Burke didn't need to be saved. She never was the type. She didn't need to be "fixed" or taken care of. She wouldn't say she was perfect - not by far - but she didn't need to be fixed.

When she was married there was really just one thing that ended that marriage. Aside from her husband being a womanizer. He didn't love her anymore. Not the real thing. Affection maybe, but not love.

Over the following years Juliet found love from her sister. She loved her sister right back. That was where she was needed.

When it came to her being on the island, all she wanted was to get back to that life. Where she had someone that loved her. Where she felt needed. The one thing that made the island bearable was Goodwin. He loved her.

Now, by no means did Juliet Burke need to be loved to have a meaning in life. She was fine without it, but she was better with it. Everyone is happier when they are loved, and she was no different.

Goodwin was taken away from her. She still knew that he loved her, but he was gone. She was still trying to get home. Get back to her sister. Her sister who loved her. It's where she wanted to be.

And then...there was Jack. He showed up in her life and she saw a kind, troubled man. She began to see him as a man that had a huge heart and a great ability to love. She just...wanted to be close to that. When he let her in, when he kissed her and made her think maybe he could just be by her side, she believed in him. But Jack wanted something broken that he could fix. He wanted someone to save. Juliet was missing pieces, sure, but she didn't need him to save her. She didn't need a hero. She only needed someone to love her and be there. And Jack wasn't there.

In a flash he was gone. Pretty literally at that.

Jack was gone, but Sawyer - James - was there. The truth was, he had always been there. Maybe not always with a kind word, but he was always there. He started to accept her and her presence before most others had. He was at her side when they watched the freighter burn, and when the confusion of the flashes settled over their heads. He was there for every rocky mind trip the island took them on. James was always there with a smirk, sarcastic remark, or just a kind look in his eyes.

He was there that night on the dock. When they were back at the barracks she...had yet to have lived in. All she wanted, still, was to go home. Find the place where she was loved. When he spoke to her and looked at her the way he did, things changed. Maybe she didn't realize it just then, but even then it had been true. She was somewhere where she was loved. Not for any other reason than...that's how it was.

He asked for two weeks, and she agreed. Three years later she was still there. He was there. He loved her. Not because he needed to, and not because he wanted to fix her. He just loved her. And she loved him. And that was what she had spent forever looking for.
